"For you, the end comes now."
"I am so willing to wait my turn." J'onn almost wants to smile at Wally's retort, but he's too busy trying to break his bonds to tell him that his humor may quite possibly be ill-placed.
They can all feel then pain of being digitalized. Through his bonds to his friends, he knows they are afraid, angry, yet still willing to struggle to the last breath against what is turning into the inevitable.
He's dying, and he knows they are too. That sends a shock through him that has nothing to do with the pain.
He came to Earth with nothing but his mind and body, was tortured by the destroyers of his people. Among the four humans and two wanderers like himself he'd found acceptance of his alien status, genuine, kind curiosity about his people, and even love. Not even the Thanagarian invasion had stopped his love for his friends, especially the used Shayera. It did not matter her complicity, for her bond to him told him of her sincerity and horror at the event. He'd loved them just as much when they were reunited.
If he didn't do something though, love would be for nothing.
He'd lose Bruce's calming presence, his intelligence and hidden compassion, his moral strength.
Gone.
He'd lose Kal-el's honesty, his strength and gentle control. The world would have no Atlas.
Gone.
He'd lose Wally's humor, his child-like optimism and his wonderful, open heart.
Gone
He'd lose Shayera's heart, her patience and personal fortitude. Her drive, her spirit, would die.
Gone
He'd lose John's practicality, his sturdy determination and the artist's heart beneath.
Gone
And he'd lose Diana's innocence, her certainty and reliability. And her gentle smiles would be lost forever.
He had lost his entire planet. He'd be damned, as the Humans said, if he lost them.
"NO!"
