Hinata rolled over and opened her eyes. Why wasn't the baby crying by now? She looked down at the bed. And where was her husband?
Hinata got out the bed and put on a robe. She tiptoed out or the bedroom and made her way down the hall. She peeked into the toddler's room. She smiled, Natsuko was still sleeping. Natsuko had always had trouble staying asleep even when she was a baby. Hinata looked down the hall and saw a soft light coming from the kitchen.
As she got closer to the light she started to hear a deep soft humming. Hinata walked in on her husband coddling their son, Arata. Naruto rocked back and forth to help the baby fall back asleep. Hinata moved behind Naruto as he let out a sigh. She touched his shoulder and smiled. Naruto glanced back at her a little shocked.
"Hinata…" He whispered as to not disturb the baby.
"You have four meetings tomorrow… why are you up?" She asked softly.
"I can lose one night of sleep if you can." He said as quietly as he could. Hinata just smiled and kissed his cheek.
They walked the baby back to the nursery. Naruto laid Arata gently down in the crib. Hinata tucked a thin blanket around Arata. The couple stood there watching the sleeping child. Hinata wrapped her arm around Naruto's and smiled. It was clear that the baby was fast asleep and showed no signs of waking up.
"Honey lets go back to bed." Hinata said softly. Naruto just nodded and let her take his hand. They went back to their bedroom and Hinata started to take off her robe. Naruto hugged her from behind and buried his face in her hair.
"I love you." He said into her hair. Hinata blushed a little and smiled. Hinata moved out of Naruto's arms and turned to him. She put her arms around him and kissed him on the lips.
"I love you too." She said pulling out of the kiss. She let her fingers graze over his cheek.
The couple got back into bed and settled into each other's arms. Not soon after they started to doze they felt a tug on the sheets. Natsuko was climbing into the bed. She wiggled in between them and hugged her father. Hinata ran a hand through her daughter's hair.
"What's wrong sweetie?" She asked the toddler softly.
"Bad dream." Natsuko said simply and clung to her father more. Naruto smiled and put an arm around the little girl.
"Don't worry daddy will scare away all the bad dreams." He said and watched as Natsuko started to fall asleep. Hinata kept a hand in the little girl's hair. The couple smiled at each other and wondered if they were finally free to fall asleep.
