"So kid, you hear what they're saying now, eh?" the old man at the stand asked Steve as he was buying his morning paper. Steve looked up at him and smiled.

"No sir, what are they saying?" Steve asked.

"Haven't you read the papers boy? They're saying that they've found him!" the man replied, his eyes bugging out. Normally, Steve would have laughed at such an expression, but he had been taught to always respect his elders… even if Steve himself was significantly older than this man.

"I am afraid, sir, that I have been a little bit… isolated for a while. I have not really been keeping up with times," Steve said apologetically "Who have they found?" The old man smiled.

"Captain America, boy! Captain Steve Rodgers! The world's first Superhero! Why, I remember when I was just a tyke, trying to collect all his trading cards! He sure was the coolest!" the old man's eyes shone with the memories of the past, and Steve gave the man a knowing smile.

"So, you must be a big fan of his, Captain America?" Steve asked.

"Yeah kid! I sure am! Though I do prefer to refer to him as Steve… makes him seem more personable and real that way, you know? What's your name, kid?"

"It's Steve, sir."

"Fancy that! You've got the same name as the old captain! And by the looks of it his jacket as well!" The old man laughed, slapping Steve on the shoulder. Steve looked down at his outfit, standard dress for the 1940s… probably not so much now, he realized. He had never noticed it before, but his jacket really did look as though it had survived a world war. Which it had, but the styles these days…

"Trust me, I do…" Steve Muttered. "So, now that he's back, you'll want to get those cards signed, right?"

"You got it kid!" The man smiled. Steve caught sight of his watch. He was late! Very, very, late. And he knew from first hand that a Mad Fury knew how to live up to his name.

"I have to go sir! I'll see you tomorrow!" Steve said, starting to walk away. He got a few paces in before the man stopped him.

"It was nice to meet you kid. The name's Stan by the way! Say Steve, what's your full name, out of curiosity, what with Facebook and all…." The man, now identified as Stan asked, his hand thrust out. Steve really couldn't help the huge grin from taking over his face. Not only did he actually know what Facebook was, he was also about to make an old man's day.

"I'm actually a captain in the army. Captain Steve Rodgers. Or as you like to call me, Captain America. I'll see about getting those cards signed for you." He said, shaking the old man's hand and walking away. He looked back once to see the old man looking at him, then at his hand, then back at him, with a look of joyful confusion plastered in his expression. Suddenly, Steve remembered something.

Damn. I forgot to buy the paper.

Alright, so I wrote this story ages ago, just after the Captain America movie came out, I'd wager. That also just so happened to be what I like to call my 'ironic' stage of writing, where I'd write a story that ended in an ironic comment. Hope you enjoyed. Hey, this is a thought. Maybe if you'd review, I'll get the motivation to write something new.
