Thought I would start the category off! I just have to say Cassandra Clara is a GOD! An utter genius. I loved the Moral Instruments and I love Clockwork Angel even more! I can't wait for Clockwork Prince!
It's only very short as I'm in the middle of exam study but I just had to write this! Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I own nothing but this short little writing piece.
Will watched Tessa walk away from him. His swollen lips still stung with her kiss. He had kissed many girls in the past but not one had ever left him burning like Tessa. It was a different desire, a different need. But it burned and was enough to send him mad.
The cold smile slipped from his face as the hem of her dress disappeared down the attic stairs.
The silence was loud, even for Will, who turned slowly away, the blood pounding loudly in his ears. His gripped the railing hard again.
I have lost everything.
Somehow it sounded more real now, the hole in chest getting larger, blacker, more filled with poison. He wanted so badly to let her in, to fix the hole. She had a tendency to do that. Like nobody else. Not even Jem.
Jem.
Will's grip on the railing tightened. He loved Jem, as much as any brother. But the moment when Jem kissed Tessa's hand rose up in his mind like a haunting nightmare, sending sudden spurts of lava through his veins. He feared for one moment that Tessa had noticed this anger at the bottom of the stairs, but he was confident he had hidden it well.
She had properly gone now to Jem. The thought made his teeth clutch, but he felt guilty almost at once. He should be happy for Jem. Jem was the sort of boy Tessa would marry. Will would be the best man properly, standing here laughing and happy that Jem had found someone who wouldn't judge him, make him happy and spend the rest of his counting down days with.
And what would he do? Will felt the tightening of his throat and he dug his finger nails into the palms of his hands.
He'd have to sit by and watch the girl he loved married off to his best friend. The only person who had even opened him up and the only one who could place him back together.
And wasn't Tessa his? He had found her, brought her here! Jem had had nothing to do with it, he hadn't even met Tessa when Will had began to see her more then some mundane girl with a special ability. So why should Jem get her?
Because I can't.
He turned his head and stared back at the darkened entrance in which Tessa had left, having taken his heart and soul with her.
I have lost everything.
