CHAPTER ONE: SILENCE…..

"Miss. Kinman!" I heard my science teacher yell at me. My head shot up so fast that I fell out of my seat.

"Yes Mr. Ralph?" I asked still laying there. Everyone was laughing and so was I.

"Get up!"My red faced science teacher said and I laughed even more. "What seems to be so funny?" he asked getting even redder.

"Nothing. But is your real last name Ralph or red?" After I said that everyone went silent. I sat up and looked around. My science teacher was yelling but I couldn't hear him. I was more distracted with the new kid in the back.

He had a hood up so I only saw a little bit of his long jet black hair. He looked at me with his emerald eyes. They burned through my soul. Those burning eyes also sparkled like diamonds. His skin reflected the pale florescent light hanging above him. His dark look didn't help his perfect completion either.

I opened my mouth to speak but the bell rang before I could. I grabbed my things and tried to run for the door. But just when I was to open the door Mr. Red called out my name. I slowly turned around to face him.

"We have a new kid and I would like it if you helped him find his way around."

"I don't need an escort." A cold dark and yet totally active voice said from behind me. I recognized that voice. I didn't know from where but I knew it. I turned around to see what I had dreaded. I turned back around and faced Mr. Red.

"Well then it's settled and I'm to busy to show around a lost puppy." Once again I made my way to the door. And once again Mr. Red's voice stopped me.

"Miss. Kinman! That is not the way we speak to our new students! Now apologize!" I signed and walked up to him.

"Sorry. Now if you two boys," I pointed the remark more towards him "are done I really need to go." I moved up to the dark figure in the doorway. "Move." I spat at him. He stayed where he was. I tried to shove my way through but he wouldn't budge. When I tried to do it again he shoved back. And when he did he stepped into the wind from the fan. And I realized that he smelled. He smelled of……someone familiar.

"Look. I don't mean to be so rude, I just don't want to be followed around all day. So if you don't mind I really would like you to move
