A/N I know this kind of has no point but I was sitting bored in American Studies so I wrote this. I hope you like it and I would appreciate it if you would review afterwards.

The Animal

He looks so hurt, vulnerable, and in pain. I wish I could help him.

Does he recognize me in this state of being? Can he sense me? He's snapping, clawing, clearly gone completely wild.

That's it, the animal has overcome him; taken him over for this one night.

I try to touch him, give him a sense of compassion while he is like this but no, he lunges at me.

I back away unwillingly. I try once more to touch him, yet he lunges at me again.

I try again and I this time succeed. I keep trying because I will not let fear take over me, as the animal has taken him.

He howls as the pale moonlight shines around us. I jump, the sound is blood curdling. I look down at my arm, there is a gash in it about half as long as my wand.

Wait, damn, my wand, I left it in the common room. I sit down on the cold, damp ground and watch him pace back and forth, almost as if he were patrolling.

I lay my head against the tree behind me and before I knew it I was in a deep sleep.

I wake up in the morning to see a head relaxed in my lap. It is him, he stirs and his eyes open.

His icy blue eyes fixed on my soft chocolate brown ones. Nothing but his robe is covering the lower half of him and I momentarily blush.

He sits up, still covered, and he begins to speak. Fright clearly visible in his eyes.

"Hermione?" he asked and I nod. He paused for a moment and looked at me, as if scanning me with his almost transparent icy blue eyes, from my head to my toes. My robes and uniform, dirt stained and ripped. His eyes traveled to the gash in my arm and he becomes a bit more frightened.

"Hermione," he began again, rubbing his head as if trying to remember something. He continued in a confused yet surprisingly calm voice, "What happened?"
