Hikaru laid on a couch in the Music Room, waiting for Kaoru to return from wherever he'd gone. It was a stormy day, and the wind howled throughout Ouran Academy—even in the host club's meeting room. Hikaru shuddered. It was getting late, almost 6pm, and they really should have been getting home, not to mention the incredible darkness that enveloped the room. The lights were out because of a storm raging outside-Hikaru could hear the wind howling through the building. "Kaoru, come back already," he muttered, looking to the ceiling. He may have been the older twin, but Hikaru still depended on Kaoru for one thing-to never leave him alone, especially at times like this.

Whether or not Hikaru feared the dark specifically was a simple matter of perspective. There may have been an underlying cause, but no one had ever bothered with finding it out.

The door opened as Hikaru's fear was growing worse, and he called to his brother. "Kaoru, what took you so long?"

"I'm not Kaoru, Hikaru," a voice returned.

"Kyouya-senpai?" Hikaru asked.

"Yes." Kyouya's voice cut off abruptly when he saw the cowed state of his fellow host. "Hikaru, are you...afraid of the dark?" The onyx-eyed boy stepped towards Hikaru, as though he wanted to comfort him but didn't know how to.

"You could say that," Hikaru replied, his amber eyes quaking in fear.

Kyouya sat down next to Hikaru and drew the younger boy in close to his chest. Stroking Hikaru's orange hair, he breathed deeply, calming Hikaru down slightly. They sat there, prolonging that peaceful moment, for a while, until Kyouya noticed that Hikaru's eyes had closed. The boy had fallen asleep.

"I'll never leave you alone, Hikaru. What benefit would it give me if I abandoned the boy I loved in his moment of need?" Kyouya murmured affectionately.

Short, but sweet-I think ;) Reviews are welcome :) I know Kyouya was a bit OOC in this, but I couldn't get him back in character until the end.
