It had been a long night for Hitomi Uchiha. She had been asked to stay back at the hospital because of her decent knowledge in medical jutsu and her "ability" to keep calm during busy times. Unfortunately, she was also the kind of person that couldn't refuse favors wanted of her. Which meant her accepting the request.

Needless to say, she was tired. Just because she could do something, didn't mean that she liked doing it. She sighed, exiting through the hospital's front door. She was immediately met with the cold breeze of the night air, which was not a bad feeling at all.

"Maah, Sasuke-chan is gonna be pissed with me, huh?" She talked to herself as she headed to her clan grounds. "I might have to bribe him with some dango or something..." She muttered on her walk there. It took her a few minutes longer then the usual, but she finally arrived at the clan gates.

But they weren't the same as they always were. There was something wrong about them, and that had her wary of her surroundings.

It was way too silent, even for it being as late as it was. Something wasn't right, she realized. Her right arm moved to the kunai she always kept with her, and she was cautious as she moved forward.

The streets were deserted, and not a single light was on in any of the houses she passed. She stopped at the sight of another clan member.

"...Itachi-san?" She finally spoke, after realizing who it was. She'd recognized that dumb ponytail from any where. He turned, slightly, and she was a little spooked. That was Itachi but... he was exuding a killing intent. Next came the blood and she realized.

Itachi had killed someone. She froze, unsure of what to do, but somehow she was able to speak still. "Itachi-san, what's going on?" Her grip was on her kunai now, like she expected him to attack her.

And that she wouldn't hesitate fighting against him.

"Hitomi." She shivered at the lack of suffix in his reply. This wasn't Itachi. Or, no, how had she not noticed this until now? He stepped closer to her, and she didn't say a damn word. She knew her resistance was futile, he'd lock her into a genjutsu or something like that.

"I'm sorry." He said, and she stared. What-

She didn't have the chance to think on his reply anymore, for he rushed forward with his katana in hand, stabbing her directly in the stomach. "Itachi..." She trailed off, coughing up blood and staining his katana in the process.

She heard the scream from behind her, and she noted the way his face hardened as he released the katana from her wound. Her head turned slightly, and her eyes widened at the sight of Sasuke.

No.

He wasn't supposed to witness this! He wasn't supposed to be anywhere near Itachi right now!

"Sasuke-" She was about to yell a warning about him, but a swift hit to the back of her neck had her on the ground, barely conscious and unable to speak. "Nee-chan!" She heard him shout, and she desperately wanted to respond back. The only thing she could do was move a hand to cover her stomach wound.

She fearfully stared up at Itachi, watching him step closer to Sasuke and say something that she couldn't pick up. That was the last thing that happened, before she blacked out.

Author's Notes

Hey guys! This is probably my first fanfic in months and I noticed OC fics were really popular lately, so I wanted to try my hands at one. Originally this was gonna be a SI!OC fic, but I couldn't figure out how to write it while actually liking it. So I scrapped the idea, and now Hitomi exists.

And one more thing, chapters later in probably won't be as short as this. It's only under 1k because its a prologue, and there's only so much you can do in a prologue.

I hope y'all enjoy and don't mind the occasional slow updates!
