Bella opened her eyes. She felt aching all over, and could barely see a thing. She just saw white, blurry white. Her eyes finally came into focus and she let out a small mental sigh of relief. She looked around and saw an IV drip next to her, moved slightly and saw the pure white walls. As she looked around more frantically, she realized there was no sight of her beloved Edward. Her eyes frantically moved across the room and she felt her heart pounding faster, looking for any sight of her beloved vampire. She saw a small spark in the corner of her eye and turned to look, but nothing. Nothing, nothing, nothing. She felt almost crushed and frantic at this development, and started to thrash all around in the hospital bed. Her arms flew wildly about and she screamed, feeling small tears of stress and depression fall down her face. "Edward!" she cried out. "Edward, Edward, Edward!"
She heard footsteps coming towards her quickly and lots of gibberish that only sounded slightly like English in her panicked state. It was like she was coming in and out of a dream state; each time she thought she had the world in focus it went to blurs and gibberish again. She cried even louder, her sobs deepening and heart pounding faster and faster and faster, trying to get her eyes to focus but they simply would not; trying to get her ears to hear solid words, to form sentences, but she heard nothing but what sounded like a very far-off, foreign language.
"It's alright, Isabella, it's alright," the nurse told her, and finally her ears were able to form a sentence. But the words didn't matter to her. All she cared about was Edward, Edward, Edward. She screamed out the name as her tears made the nurse's frizzed hair look just like a brown blur above her head.
"There's no Edward here, Isabella," she told her, trying to get her to calm down.
Bella finally released the tension, stopping the thrashing of her arms and simply breaking down to sob. Where was Edward? Where was he? All she cared about now was Edward. Edward, Edward, Edward. She covered her eyes as her sobs deepened and deepened. She wanted the world she knew back, but alas, it was nowhere.
"What happened?!" she cried out. "What happened to Edward?!"
"There is no Edward," the nurse said, touching her hand. "You slipped into a coma. You were in shock."
"You're lying!" she yelled out angrily, flicking her hand away from the nurse's. "You're lying!"
"You're frantic," the nurse said. "We're going to have to put you in the psych ward again."
Bella looked at the nurse and glared. She felt such burning, bitter hatred for this woman. Hatred she had never felt before. She wanted to grab her tiny little neck, to tighten her grip around it and choke her until she heard her last dying breaths. To find where she took Edward, where she took the others. Her grip tightened on the sheets as she blinked away the tears from her eyes.
After that, Bella couldn't remember much. She just remembered the nurse telling some doctors that she was frantic, asking for her to be drugged and taken away back to the psych ward. She heard many whispers of her being crazy, of her not ever being able to function in human society again, of the fact that her only care in the world seemed to be for someone named 'Edward'. Bella was hoisted off to some other place in the hospital where they told her she would be much more comfortable, she would be with people like her but all she cared about was seeing Edward again. And that was all she remembered.
But after that...
She was in Forks again.
