3 days, 7 hours and 16 minutes.
That's how long it would be until a met my soul mate. You see, my mum gave me a watch telling me when I would meet 'the one'. I hadn't really believed her until I realised everyone in the family on my mum's side, my uncles, aunties, cousins, grandparents etc. had similar watches too. Our family had never had a single divorce. Mum told me that I had an early watch and I would probably have an impossibly deep bond with my other half. So as the date approached, I grew nervous.
What if this person was a creeper? Stalker? Paedophile? I shuddered and cleared my mind. This was not a positive attitude. But could you really blame me? I mean, it was a lot of pressure. The next two days were pretty uneventful. Just the same old, same old. Going to school, returning the 'Hi Brenda!' 's, homework and reading a new novel I had recently picked up. I woke up late, and rushed to school, quickly grabbing a piece of toast, and dashing out the door.
I glanced at my watch. 0 days, 4 hours and 38 minutes.
I opened my locker and grabbed all my books for biology. After tripping over several times and smashing into a trash can, I reached my room and turned the knob to the door. I heard a snicker and saw my friends, Newt and Minho, looking pointedly at me. I sighed and toyed with the end of my ponytail. The bell went and the teacher began the class.
Throughout the whole lesson, I was drumming my fingers on the table, tapping my feet and not paying attention when something two guys next to me said, caught my attention.
'Have you seen the new girl? I heard she's in the other class. Apparently, she and her twin moved here a couple of days ago,' the guy whispered. The other replied, 'Yeah, she's hot, I bet I could get her before you did.' I frowned. New students were rare as gold and they hardly ever turned up as sophomores. Maybe she was a delinquent. Perhaps her parents had moved. Or she could hav-
'Miss Brenda, are you listening?'
My eyes snapped up to the teacher's and my face flushed a deep scarlet colour. I shook my head and look down at my book. I could almost feel her eyes rolling as she carried on teaching whatever she was before. Once class ended, I put my books in my bag and heaved out a sigh. Suddenly, two arms hooked under my armpits. One slender and firm, the other muscly and strong.
'We've got her!' 'Let's go!'
I heard a kissing noise and rolled my eyes. Minho and Newt weren't afraid of a little PDA. In fact, they weren't afraid at all. They had gotten together a few months ago when everyone on the track team pointed out how much their captain and his best friend were into each other. Particularly Alby, the co-captain of the team. Dates ensued and a happy couple emerged from the depths of denial.
I jolted out of my deep thoughts as I was pulled to me feet and dragged through the hallways. I giggled a little and a blush tinged my cheeks as they marched, yelling anything that came to the top of their heads.
'WHO LOVES CHICKEN?' 'WE LOVE CHICKEN!' 'WHO STINKS MORE THAN GALLY?' 'MINHO STINKS MORE THAN-' 'Hey!'
I chuckled and they both kissed me on the cheek with a loud smack. I wiped face and gave them a look and Minho shrugged before shouting random things again. The rest of the day was uneventful till after school ended. I was reading a really good chapter of my book, when I crashed into someone, sending their belongings flying everywhere. I reached down to help them pick up their stuff when my watched beeped and I froze in place, not moving. I slowly lifted my eyes up and I stared into brilliant blue eyes.
Holy shucking god.
