It was scary how numb she'd become. She was prepared to hurt. To feel. She felt nothing. Nothing, but the cold wind on her bare skin. She would've done anything for warmth. A fire. No not a fire. A boy. A boy as warm as the sun. But he was gone now. Never to return to her, and all Lucy felt was a numbing throb in her heart. There was no anger, no sadness. She was empty. Her memories of the past were fading, and the hopes of their future together were shattered.
Lucy had sat in her bed and waited for the tears to come. She waited for the tsunami of emotions to knock her off of her feet and wash her away. They never came. Though the emotions did not arrive, her friends came and went from her told her of their most recent missions. If the people they met and the places saw. But Lucy just sat on her bed, a tiny blue cat resting in her lap, pretending not to hear a word. When in fact she heard every single one.
It took seven days to get her to eat and three months to get her to leave the cold unwelcoming home. It wasn't until Erza used brute force did she walk out of her apartment doors and into the was as lively as ever. Only there was not pink haired boy involved in the brawls. His voice did not echo through the guild. To be honest she could barely even remember the sound of his voice.
It made the numbness grow.
Lucy learned to fake her smile. She learned to take her laugh and to fake her happiness. Very few saw through her facade. Erza saw. Gray saw. Happy saw. Maybe even Juvia, but she said nothing. Lucy almost wished everyone saw. She wished everyone knew what she felt, or rather did not feel. She wanted people to remind her of what she was missing, so that maybe, maybe she would feel something.
"Lucy, well you come with me?" It was Erza. Her pity filled eyes burned into Lucy's skull. Lucy pulled out a fake smile.
"Of course!"
The air of the graveyard was uncomfortably warm. Warm and humid. It made Lucy feel sick. Erza moved confidently in front of Lucy. Her movements were precise. She knew exactly where she was going. Lucy did too. The carved stone blocks that stuck out of the ground were haunting. Lucy wanted to go home. She wanted to go home and hide under the covers and never come out. She wanted to be numb in peace. Was that too much to ask. Erza stopped walking. She stared down at the beautifully carved grave. Lucy didn't want to look at it. Her head was turned so that her eyes met a large Sakura tree. Lucy had only seen the grave once. She did not want to see it again.
"Lucy, look at him," Lucy shook her head violently. She should not be there. She was out of place.
"Lucy. Look at him." Erza's voice was more forceful now.
"Please, dont make me." Lucy whimpered. Erza grabbed Lucy, forcing her to turn around to see the stone.
The grave was beautifully carved. With flame like wisps etched into it. Fitting. It was a beautiful grave for a beautiful boy. The stone was worthy of him. It was worthy of Natsu. A tear formed in Lucy's eye.
Suddenly she felt everything.
She felt the pain when she saw the darkness consume him and Zeref. She felt the heartache when she heard his last 'I love you, Lucy'. She felt the anger of the fact that fate took him away from her. She felt the tsunami and all the emotions that ran with it. Uncontrollable sobs racked through her body.
It felt freeing.
Lucy didn't have to fake her smiles, or her laughs or her happiness anymore. The numbness was gone. Though she felt the pain, Lucy knew that with her friends she could move on.
And one day she would see him again.
I hope you enjoyed my story, it was a little sad for what I'm used to writing. Please leave a review and let me know what you think! Constructive criticism is appreciated. (Btw you all look lovely today)
