Paintings and Flowers

"Finally."

A light yellow pony sat down, beaded with sweat even though it was so cold outside. In a bucket next to him were ten flowers, clearly picked out of a lot more. The yellow pony, Apollo, looked at the bucket. He was clearly satisfied. The flowers had been grown with care, and pulled out of the dirt as carefully as possible. They had dirt on them, yes, but Apollo would take care of that in a bit.

Apollo was a traveling artist. Right now, he should be in Canterlot selling paintings, but he had made some…friends in Ponyville, and had decided to just sell his paintings her for a while.

Apollo was not a garden pony, but this was a special occasion. Today was Hearts and Hooves Day, and he was determined to brighten up the day for a very special somepony. Apollo had spent most of his time spent in Ponyville before today growing a garden, and put a lot of care and hard work into it. This morning he had spent about an hour picking out the ten best.

She's going to love these, Apollo thought. I hope.

Apollo grabbed the bucket and trotted inside, cleaning most of the dirt off them with a wet wipe. It was a bit easier for him, as there was a tiny groove in each of his front hooves that helped to hold items.

Once the flowers were clean and dry, he wrapped the stems in red tissue paper.

Flower bouquet- check.

Apollo gently laid the flowers down and grabbed a small painting of a rose he had been saving for today.

Painting- check.

He grabbed a piece of paper and a red colored pencil, writing a note on the paper that read:

Flowers bloom when you smile, and you can cheer up anypony feeling grey,

So take it from me- anypony would be lucky to be with you on Hearts and Hooves Day.

He refused to sign it, preferring to remain anonymous.

He taped the letter to the bouquet along with the painting and ran to the florist's shop. He knew that this special somepony was on break; she had told him before. Apollo dropped the present onto the counter and ran off, just in time to hear Maggie Rose walk out and see it.

"Oh, my…"

Mission accomplished.
