Author's Note:
This was just a quick little thing I wrote for fun, it's HetaOni but with no names. Italy is the character, however, just to clarify.
Happy reading! -E
Where was it? Where was it? He had to find it. This library was too vast, too dark, too- too- There!
He gasped and ran towards the book he needed, near tearing it from the shelf. He held it to his chest, breathing a faint sigh of relief. He had it, he had it back, and he needn't fear again.
He could still fix this, right? He could use it still, right?
He couldn't leave them behind! He had caused this mess, and he had to get them out of it!
Where was the clock? Where was the clock?! But... But he didn't want to do it again... Never again...
"Please, please, please..." He whimpered painfully, stumbling down the hall. He needed the clock. He couldn't watch them die again, not again, but they had, and it was all his fault.
He fell through the nearest door and wept bitterly. Even his older brother had been lost to the monster this time.
He heard the heavy, thundering footsteps, the silence thick enough to cut with a butterknife.
He didn't care any longer if he died, if it ate him like it ate the others, if he never got them back. Let it happen. Let it happen. He didn't care any longer.
The footsteps stopped.
He lifted his head, tears still dripping down his face.
"Do it," he dared the grotesque hulk of death on legs before him. "Kill me, like you killed the others. Do it. Do it!"
Instead, the grandfather clock began to glow in the corner. The book snapped open, the pages glowing like the clock.
"No." His shattered form began to tremble. "Not again. Please, not again!"
The pages started to turn back slowly as the hands of the clock began to move in the wrong direction.
"No!" He wailed. "I don't want to do it again! I can't even save myself!"
The pages of the book flipped by faster and faster.
"Please!"
Faster.
"PLEASE!"
The clock chimed one too many times, the pages stopped turning, and there was a bright white flash. It all stopped.
"No." He whimpered.
And the cycle began again.
