The Whitecoats decide that to kill bird kids,you need bird kids. So they create an assassin, one who isn't particularly interested in the flock as his target, but Schools. Most of the story take place after Saving the World but before Fang.

1. prologue

AN: This is my first fanfiction, basically just a fixed up version of one I wrote a long time ago. I ended up writing only one chapter due to computer issues, but the idea was still there. So here we go. I don't own Maximum Ride

Prologue

Ryan Hartsfield considered himself a nice man. He worked in a facility in Death Valley, California. He thought he was advancing science when he made the proposal. It was simple, really. The Avian-Human experiments, "The Flock", were proving impossible to kill or capture. The Erasers, first designed for the purpose of security, failed. Then the mechanized versions were created. For some reason, it seemed robot Erasers failed just as badly as normal ones. So, why not kill bird kids with bird kids?

The project took off immediately, taking a child, age two, and replacing it with one of its own DNA, a clone. The experiment was trained, brainwashed, or so it seemed. It was an assassin, trained to kill, taught the survival skills it needed. Years later, the specimen, known as subject AH-#234A, age 14, fully trained with deadly skills, showed something. He didn't want to be an assassin.
