Chapter 1:

Beep. Bark. Beep. Bark. BEEEEEEEEEP!

I shot up from my bed, scrabbling for my alarm.

Snooze.

Yes that sounds like an excellent idea!

Usually I would follow that idea, but I can't for two reasons.

One: The dog is barking. He'll pee everywhere if I don't walk him.

Two: I start my job today, as Special agent.......

BRING. BRING. BRIIINNNG!

Great first the alarm, then the dog, now someone wants to see me,

Stumbling out of bed, I check the wall clock.

5:30. this person better have chocolate.

I open the door and greeting me are brown eyes and a charm smile.

Lucky for him I don't have my gun yet.

No hello's, I need to get straight to the point with this guy.

"What are you doing here?" I ask, making a grumpy face.

"I heard your dog barking." His response seems to be an improvement from the classic I saw your lights from the road excuse.

"You heard my dog, from your apartment across town?"

He nodded.

"Christopher James Booth." I say smiling "you're just like dad"

"Well, Natasha Christine Booth, I'd really like to say your like mum but," he stopped and I knew what was coming next. "We both know who got the brains!"

Like most times, I have no comeback, so I let him in my apartment.

Oh, how I wish I had my gun.
