Lena Fray and her three brothers are elementals, and hope for a new, normal life in Beacon Hills, since they can't stay in any place for too long. But eventually, the hard hitting world of high school gets the best of them and when you throw werewolves into the mix, the teenage drama is endless.
Moving to a new town was like eating a new candy over and over again, and after a while, chocolate got kind of old.
It was Gabriel's turn to choose our destination and for some reason the places he picked never really turned out too good for the rest of us. Matt swears that he just Google searches towns with the highest percentage of girls, closes his eyes, and points.
Though, I have to say, I wasn't completely disappointed with Beacon Hills. There was an arcade, and library, and the high school wasn't too far away from the house Ben was renting. The house was smaller than most of the others we stayed in, with just enough room for the four of us, if Ben slept on the couch. As the oldest brother, he was always doing stuff like that, and I had a feeling it was so he could catch Gabe sneaking in at all hours of the night.
Matt rushed into the house, barely jamming the key in before forcing it open and running up the steps to pick out his room. He was the only one younger than me, though no one would ever expect it. He was the tallest, even without shoes (Which he often chose to ignore) and towered a good couple inches over Ben who stood a solid 6 foot two.
Though none of us really bothered with our elements much, besides Gabe who did so while lounging around to piss off Ben, we were constantly on the lookout for a sign that Matt had slipped. As the youngest, we worried that he'd screw up and send us all packing at any moment. Any slight movement of plant soil, or quiver in the ground meant that we had to keep a close eye on him, and usually merited a lecture from Ben.
"The school looks nice." Ben says to me when it's just me and him left outside unloading the car onto the pavement. Though there were only four of us, me and Ben weren't all that close. For starters, I was a girl, and I'm not completely sure Ben knew the first thing about talking to someone of the opposite gender. Gabe had offered numerous times to give him some lessons, but Ben wouldn't hear of it.
Besides the girl issue, it seemed like me and Ben were rarely left with enough time to talk regardless. Most of the time he was so busy either scolding Gabe or looking out for Matty that he didn't pay me much mind. If anyone came close to guardian, it was him. Though I was a close second. Gabe might have been older than me, but he was nowhere near as mature.
"Yeah it should be good. Think you'll do it again?" I ask. Most of the time, Ben was give or take. When we settled down somewhere new, he would either enter the school as a junior or senior, because he could pass as such, but he could also pass as a twenty five year old man as well, which really made it possible for him to do whatever the hell he wanted. I could tell by his expression that high school was NOT in his plans for this place. He'd probably get a job with a nearby union. A hospital, or police department. Something that was big enough to not draw attention to him, but small enough to offer him friends if he happened to need any.
"Lena!" Gabe calls me from inside, where he's probably done something stupid that he'll charm his way out of later. He was becoming famous lately for making people, especially girls, bend to his every whim. It wasn't working so much with our family, so he was taking to sarcastic jabs that he found funny. "I'm feeling faint! I think you're gonna have to make dinner!"
