Hello, everyone! Taking a break from all my current Full Moon stuff in order to write a birthday fic for my friend Emily, since her birthday is just around the corner. Since Takuto x Mitsuki is her favorite couple, that is what I have written.

As a note, this story takes place sometime shortly after the final chapter of the manga. Takuto and Mitsuki have just started living together here.

This fic is dedicated to Emily, with all my love. Happy birthday!

It is the first night that they have slept in a bed together, and they can't help being excited.

For a while, neither Takuto nor Mitsuki can sleep. They lie next to each other under the blankets, talking in soft whispers, enjoying being close to each other. All the time, his hand holds on to hers without letting go.

A long time later, they are both tired. They face the ceiling and close their eyes.

When Takuto is almost asleep, he hears her voice, sleepy and far away. "Takuto."

He turns his head to face her. "Yeah?"

She doesn't answer with words, but rolls over until their bodies are touching, and his heart stands still, because her head is tucked over his shoulder and he can feel her hot breath on his neck, and he never imagined that anything could feel so good.

"I love you, Takuto," Mitsuki murmurs quietly.

For a second, Takuto doesn't say anything. Then his lips move close to her ear, and he whispers, "I love you, too."

A few hours later, Takuto wakes up to find Mitsuki still pressed up against him, and he smiles. Then he realizes he is thirsty, and although he is loathe to leave her even for a minute, his throat has other plans.

He pulls away from her, and just as he lets go of her hand, she lets out a moan and grabs it back.

"Takuto, don't go…"

He freezes, startled.

"Please…Takuto…don't leave me…don't leave me…"

Her eyes are still closed, but there is a crease in her forehead, and she looks as if she is in pain.

"…Please…"

Without a word, Takuto gets back into bed and pulls Mitsuki close again.

"It's okay, shorty," he says softly, wrapping her in his arms. "I said I'd protect you, remember? You don't have to worry."

Even though she is asleep, she seems to realize that he's there, and she quiets down. "Takuto…" she mumbles, pressing closer to him in her sleep.

"I'm here," Takuto whispers.

The next morning, they wake up at almost the same time, still holding each other.

Sweaty and flushed, they break apart.

"Um…" Mitsuki looks slightly flustered as she talks. "Um…I'm sorry…"

"It's okay," Takuto says, shaking his head. He pauses. "Were you having a nightmare last night?"

Mitsuki hesitantly nods. "Yes…I dreamed that the Death Master came to take your soul away…and I was watching, and I couldn't do anything to help…"

She looks afraid for a few seconds, then smiles, as if struck by a sudden thought.

"But then you came back…"

Takuto smiles and pats her on the shoulder. "I'll always come back, silly," he says playfully.

Mitsuki touches Takuto's hand with hers. "I felt you holding me," she says softly. "It made me feel better. So…thank you."

They both share another smile, and then climb out of bed, ready to begin a new day together.

Well, there you go. Everything and a bag of Skittles. (Where did that saying come from, anyway?)
