Love Fulfilled

His whole body ached. He tried to keep his eyes from looking to his hands, knowing that is was a gruesome sight. He could feel the rough metal through his limbs, and it brought tears to his compassionate eyes.
He hung limply from the tree, which he was nailed to on Golgotha. The place where criminals and murderers where hung to die for their crimes. But He was no criminal, he was a redeemer.
His heart constricted as he looked down upon the many bitter people who stood below, laughing and cursing Him. If only they knew and believed. Tears spilled from his eyes and dripped off his chin.

The sun was near noon, and every minute till then the sky darkened with eminence.
Mary, who stood against a large rock, stared up at her beloved son whose blood streamed down the rough cross. Her heart ached as though someone had stabbed her in the heart and was slowly tearing it from within her. Tears streamed down her dirt smudged face as she listened to the soldiers mocking Him and gambling for His clothes. "My son," Mary whispered hoarsely, her hands coming to her face slowly. "My son..." her hands covered her face as her body convulsed in sobs. Mary Magdalene, a close friend to Mary, put her shaking arms about the grieving mother, tears spilling from her own eyes.

When high noon struck, complete darkness fell across the land. The eerie darkness lingered until three o'clock. At that time, Jesus mustered up enough strength from his weary body and called in an ominous voice. "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Jesus' voice echoed with pain and strength.
Many of the people thought he was calling on Elijah, the Prophet. A soldier grabbed a sponge and dipped it in sour wine and stuck it through a stick. He hesitantly sent it up for Jesus to take a drink, but many of the people protested. "Leave him be! Let us see if Elijah shall come and rescue this so-called 'king'!"
At that moment Jesus cried out once again and he gave up His spirit. As the last word rolled off of Jesus' tongue, the temple's curtain ripped into two; the sound of it disquieting.
The earth shook mightily, causing the people to scream in terror. Rocks were dislodged and fell to the ground missing only a few. The magnificent boulders split apart and crumbled into nothing.
When the earth calmed and the dust fell, the soldiers looked up to the limp body of Jesus, awe stirring in their eyes. "Truly, this was the Son of God!" they shouted in unison.
Mary watched as the soldiers shouted and fell to their knees before Jesus' cross. Her heart stirred with pride as her eyes sought her son's.
Mary Magdalene set her hand upon Mary's shoulder. "Come, we have work to do,"

A/N: You obviously know I didn't write the bible...right? ;) I thought this was just really moving and I wrote it because God put it upon my heart. I hope this stirs something within you as well. Review!
