AN: I write these as Headcannons on a Facebook page I admin. (What if Harry Potter was an Anime?) Just remember that the Harry Potter world is not mine but I do love and wish I could visit the world.
Masked Affections
When Draco first set his eyes on her, he was awestruck. But when he heard her last name, he was devastated. His family would never approve of a muggleborn as his wife. He pushed his feelings deep into the back of his mind and heart.
He bullied and teased when all he wanted to do was kiss and hold her. He casted jinxes and curses, when he wanted to heal and protect her. He hurt every time he hurt her but pushed it all down.
After the war, he still kept his feelings hidden but for a different reason. He became friends with Harry and saw the relationship Hermione had with Ron. Even if he wanted to reveal his heart, how could he compete with one of her best friends.
He teased them halfheartedly when deep down he wanted to be the one holding her. He knew how to mask his pain and longing with a smile and friendly teasing.
Maybe, just maybe, she would notice the cracks in his mask. She is intelligent but Draco isn't hopeful.
