"This way please" shouted Professor McGonagall to the students that decided to finish their education after the war. Most of the students were 6, 7 and 8th years, only 50 to 100 students were from year 1 to 4.

"I'm so excited for class to begin, aren't you guys!?" exclaimed Hermione all of a sudden. The two boys next to her simply shrugged and started walking as McGonagall brought them to the great hall.

"And finally the ravenclaw prefects are Linda McLaine and Frederick Robinson."

Hermione could see Ron in the corner of her eye shuffle awkwardly as the name Frederick reminded him of his dead brother, Fred. This brought a quick rush of memories to her brain. She could see the dead bodies of her classmates and people from the order. She quickly blocked those images out of her brain as she forced back a tear and continued listening to McGonagall.

"Now for the biggest announcement of the year, the headboy and headfirst" exclaimed professor McGonagall.

At her last words, Hermione suddenly looked more attentive at the hope that her name would soon be called.

"The headgirl has been chosen from the griffindor house and is one of the best students that we have ever had here at hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Please come and collect your badge Ms Hermione Granger."

Hermione beamed as the great hall filled sudden with the sound of students and staff clapping. She walked up to her new headmistress, took her new shiny badge and stood next to her with a great smile on her face.

"Now we have also picked a student from Slytherin for the role of headboy. This student has had very high results since his first year. Sadly, he hasn't had an easy past and was influenced by a negative environment. All the staff still believe that he will fulfill the requirements for the role of headboy. Please come and collect your badge Mr Draco Malfoy."

At McGonagall's last words, Hermione looked at the pale boy that was now standing next to her looking as confused and she felt. Though Hermione couldn't help smile when draco took and her hand and shook it.

"Good job Granger" was all Draco said in the smallest voice possible so that only Hermione could hear.

"umm...yeah...good job to you too malfoy" said Hermione just as quietly and slightly confused at why he was being so civil.

She was quite accepting of the Slytherin's now that she understood that most of them had a wrought past with their parents being on the wrong side of the war. She was still pretty shocked that Draco hadn't called he mudblood, potty's sidekick, weasel's women, know it all or any offensive names of the sort. At least it showed improvement on his behalf... Right?

Hermione focused again as McGonagall started speaking again.

"The house common rooms and dorms have changed so there will be a common room per year group. As there are only 83 of you from year 1 to 5 you will all share one common room, the ravenclaw tower. The sixth years, hufflepuff common room. Seventh years, griffindor tower and eight years in the Slytherin common room. You can all go now."

McGonagall turned to Hermione and Draco.

"Except you two."

The two eighth years now looked confused and slightly scared.

"Firstly, I would like to congratulate both of you on behalf of the school for being elected new headgirl and headboy. You will both have two common rooms, one for the both of you and one wthe the rest of your year group. You will also share a dorm in your own common room and have access to a bathroom. I trust you both to be kind to each other and act civil. Congratulations again, you may now go."

Did McGonagall just tell her that for a whole year she would have to share a dorm with Draco Malfoy? This is going to be a long year...
