A/N: I wrote this in class because I was really bored, and all I could think about was why Mako's scarf never catches on fire when he bends. THIS WAS WRITTEN AS A JOKE. Please don't judge me based on this. I actually am capable of writing well. Also, bonus points to anyone who recognizes the How I Met Your Mother reference.

The Most Dramatic Love Scene Since Rose Let Go
Mako released the flames from his fist in a fit of fury. His best friend, Scarfie (who is a scarf), hung around Mako's neck, flapping helplessly as Mako ran across the arena.
"Korra! Go!" Mako yelled across the arena to the Waterbender for the Fire Ferrets, "We're losing!"
Scarfie could do nothing but watch the Ferrets lose, unable to bend. He knew Mako would be terribly upset; pro-bending was Mako's passion, and he always took it badly when the Fire Ferrets lost.
Mako ran across the arena, determined that their loss would not be in vain. He released a jet of white-hot flame. Suddenly, an ear-piercing scream cut through the air. Both teams hesitated for a moment, confused.
Finally, someone from the audience screamed, "That Firebender is on Fire!"
Mako looked toward the firebender from the other team, but he was not enflamed, as the audience member had announced…
Mako looked down. His heard dropped to his feet hwne he realized that his beloved, most prized—
"SCARFIE!" Mako screamed in horror, ripping the scarf off his neck and placing it gently onto the floor of the arena. He quickly extinguished the flames, but the damage was done: Scarfie had been scorched.
"Scarfie," Mako scried, gently caressing his beloved Scarfie, "I'm so sorry."
"How could you do this to me, Mako?" Scarfie moaned, "I thought you loved me!"
"I do love you!" Mako shouted, "it was an accident! I never meant for this to happen."
"Oh please," Scarfie spat, "if you really cared about me you would have taken me off before the competition. Besides, I know you wanted to get rid of me."
"What?"
"I saw you and Korra."
Mako blushed and averted his gaze. "You…you saw that?"
"…you were wearing me around your neck."
"Oh. Right."
They sat in silence for a moment. Scarfie began struggling to breathe.
"Scarfie. Please. I'm so sorry about everything. Please don't die."
Scarfie smiled weakly.
"It's okay, Mako. I forgive you." Scarfie's breathing became even more labored. Mako became frantic.
"Scarfie, what will I do without you? My neck will be so cold!"
"Mako," Scarfie's voice was hoarse, and he struggled to speak. "You'll be fine. I was merely decorative."
And with that came Scarfie's dying breath.
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!" Mako screamed, clutching Scarfie's dead body to him. Wet tears fell from his eyes as the other members of his team tried to pry him away from the arena. Mako wouldn't budge. He would never leave Scarfie. Not ever.
