The men in the bar talked, as the women gossiped. It was a rowdy night in Tortuga, as the ship 'The Black Pearl" had made port just hours ago, and the crew were ready to drink. Their Captain, Jack Sparrow (though it was surprise to no one) was already drunk, and loading more rum onto the ship.
"Yeh've met the newest addition to the town since yeh's last made port?" the Bartender asked Gibbs.
"No," he whispered, rubbing his chin. "A new lady in town?"
"Aye, and a beauty at that! Long flowing hair, dark eyes and skin smooth as a baby's bo'om! She came just a few days before yeh selves, and's hardly spoken to a man since!" he said excitedly.
"Aye, is that true?" Gibbs whispered. "So 'ow'd you know about her then?"
"Comes to the bar each night. I expect you'll be seeing her soon!" he grinned.
"Do you think she has a husband?" Gibbs inquired quietly.
"Gibbs, she's a woman in Tortuga," the bartender said.
"Aye. The lads and I'll certainly be takin' care of 'er, then!"
Suddenly, the bar quietened a little. Not silenced, but quietened, as if one part of the bar had stopped talking.
"Here comes the lady now, I think," the bartender breathed.
The men in the crowd parted to reveal –
Gibbs hit the bartender across the head. "That ain't a lady! That's Elizabeth! Elizabeth Turner, previously Swann!" he whispered.
"She's married?" the bartender asked, shocked.
"She's more than that!" Gibbs grinned. "Behold!"
And as he raised his arms, the rest of the crew saw Elizabeth and immediately dropped into low bows, Gibbs with them. The bar became silent, and the crew did not falter. Elizabeth smiled.
"Yeh bow, lads?" the Bartender asked.
"Do yeh not bow before royalty?" Pintel asked, as though the bartender was an idiot.
"Please," Elizabeth announced. "Stand."
"Miss Elizabeth!" Gibbs gushed. "Yeh lookin' well."
"Thank-you, Gibbs," she smiled. "Elizabeth Turner," she introduced herself to the Bartender. "Nee Swann, wife of William Turner the second, captain of the Flying Dutchman. Daughter of Governor Wetherby Swann of Port Royale. Fifth Pirate Lord representing Singapore. Oh, and Pirate King of the Caribbean."
There was a shocked silence at the last part as the rest of the bar hit the deck in low bows.
"You have many titles, Elizabeth," a drunken voice from the door said. Elizabeth smiled and looked at the man that stood there.
"You're looking well, Jack," she said politely.
"You're looking different, Elizabeth," he pointed out.
"How so?" she inquired. "Did I not ask you to stand?" she asked the bar. There was a scurry of movement as each man stood at attention. Elizabeth glared. "At ease. How so, Jack?"
"Am I right in saying that perhaps… you might be with a little bit of Will at the moment?" Jack simpered.
"If you're asking if Will gave me his heart…" Elizabeth muttered. Jack shook his head.
"Think, love."
"Majesty," a small woman asked, breaking away from the man who seemed to be harassing her. "Would her Majesty accept to a simple test of life?"
"Mistress, I hardly think it's appropriate. I know I am carrying Will's son," Elizabeth said, staring at Jack.
"Wonderful!" Jack announced. "Drinks all around!"
"Are you intending to pay for them, Jack?" Elizabeth asked.
"Of course not! But why ruin a perfectly good reason to drink until we cannot anymore with silly discussions of money and debt! What are we planning on naming said son of the undead captain?" Jack said. "What about Charlie? Or Bob? I know! Jack is a wonderful name!"
"I was thinking 'William'," Elizabeth scorned.
"I like 'Jack', better," Jack muttered.
"Tell me, Jack, why would I name my son after a monkey?"
