She, she likes Mako? Was Asami's first thought after Ikki had blurted out the truth. What was she supposed to say to that? Asami panicked. "Oh, uh, no I wasn't completely aware of that," she managed to stammer. Her heart fluttered when Korra grabbed her and led her to what would now be her new home. She abruptly focused her attention on the décor to avoid making eye contact with the girl who splintered her heart.

It has to be the truth, Asami reasoned, because why else would Korra be acting like this when we're actually alone together? To Asami's discontent, Korra had left, thanks to Councilman Tenzin.

At least I have time to think, the nonbender thought as she sat expressionlessly on her cream-colored bed. She did enjoy the almost-empty but pleasant room, but since Korra left, it had gotten exceedingly large and lonely. Asami looked at her feet and sighed, knowing it was unfair to feel hurt, she was in a relationship, not the high-strung Avatar who mystified her. Asami cursed herself, you are in a relationship, you're not supposed to like this girl; Mako is your boyfriend. She groaned quietly, as dear as Mako was to her, she felt her feelings for him were platonic, while the alluring waterbender captivated her mind.

It was times like these she wished her mom was still alive. Asami's memories of her were faint, but the kind spirit of her mother could never be forgotten. She would be able to help, and explain why I have romantic feelings for a girl, Asami thought.

Inhaling deep, the nineteen year-old lay back, the glimmer of her green eyes radiated her determination to end things with Mako, and reveal her true feelings to Korra.

But she never got the chance.
