It started out small, as do most great things. A human, for it was a human, traveled to the new continent discovered only a few years ago by a wayward sky pirate. This particular pirate had a considerable amount of infamy surrounding him. Desperate to escape the clutches of the tyrannical emperor, the sailor ventured out into uncharted skies. When covering the massive stretch of ocean, He eventually lost his pursuers. After a stretch of time that seemed like forever, land was in sight. And a beautiful land it was. A great cliff stretched as far as the eye could see, standing strong against the relentless waves. Above the perilous cliffs, a forest went on for many leagues. This was no ordinary forest however. It was huge, dense, and just reeking of danger.
It was in this very forest, a couple miles from the shore, where our human was shipped to. Hoping for a new life seemed to be one of his favorite pastimes. Truly, this individual was a criminal. The Emperor himself had decreed that such a deadly individual should be exiled to the horrible, frightening land rather than execute him for fear of him coming back from the dead. Before he could even muster a farewell, the ship was gone. Anger boiled within him. Clenching his fists, the criminal lashed out blindly at the nearest object. Surprisingly, he met little resistance. His strike left him out of balance and he was toppled over. Dazed, he looked up at what he had not hit. His eyes must have failed him, so he blinked, slowly. The impossible was still there. What he had the intention to strike was lying on the ground. A piece of a nearby tree had fallen down when his now throbbing fist had hit it. Yet, this was the entirety of the trunk. The Tree remained within mid-air. It seemed completely illogical. The human slowly and warily climbed to his feet. He observed it from all angles. No, it was not an illusion. Was this why the Emperor refused to let eager people colonize this new land? Now, he was untrusting of the very ground beneath his feet. The man stared back at the tree, and cracked his knuckles. He drew back his hand, and with one easy blow another portion of the tree toppled free. Encouraged and enthralled, He continued, taking down the entire tree. He had supplies, and without breaking a sweat. If only the banished criminal knew what was lurking in the shadows, and what awaited him in the future.
