She was never a believer for cranes.

Folding a hundred cranes in exchange for the granting of a wish seemed too unbelievable.

It sounded too simple.

If her wish could really be granted with a mere hundred cranes, no one would be giving her those looks of sympathy.

Her hands moved on their own accord, twisting the squared sheet of paper in front of her. It took the shape of a star. A star that would never fade.

A star. Her only hope.

Stars were too fragile, too delicate. If she touched it, she feared that it would crumble.

Stars.. They were the only things that intrigued her.

The way the stars illuminate the night sky, sparkling and radiating a soft glow, stars were hope. Stars lived for millions of years, and shine the brightest when they are meeting their demise.

Stars are beautiful, proud beings that she admired.

Emitting their final energy into a single appearance, pumping up the night sky for the millions of people living on the earth, the stars were truly admirable.

The end of their existence wasn't for shedding of tears, but one to commemorate about for the amount of years that they spent together and love that was showered on them.

She wants to be a star.

Only being a star would give her the courage she needs to let go, where she could swallow her pride and be finally be honest.

If only she could appear once in the night sky, she hoped that everyone would accept her sincere apologies.

She wanted to apologize for all the troubles that they had to go through for her, for what an idiot she was, and more importantly, for being unable to be there for her sister's wedding.

She wanted to thank them for all their efforts, for all the time they exhausted on her, the times where they played with her, and dealing with her nonsense.

All she wants to tell them is her gratitude, and honest feelings.

She wants them to know that she loves them.

But everything was far too late.

She wants to embrace each of them, wipe away their tears, and play with all of them again.

It was a miracle, her great fortune to have met such wonderful friends, to have a family who loves her so much.

And now, she's out of miracles.

Like a falling meteor, she let out all her emotions and descended on what seemed like the longest journey.

Because she knew that even if she travelled for another hundred years, it still isn't enough.

It still isn't enough to express how much she loves them.

Moments before she collided on the concrete ground, a single tear streamed down her face.

Like a fading star, her wish was granted.

Leaving behind a trail of shimmering dust, a small girl disappeared into the moonlight.

If one heard closely that night, they would have heard it.

A soft, gentle breeze that carried the warmth of a person's voice.

Finally, finally, it came out.

A deathly silent whisper, but it still could be heard.

Those words filled with pain, love, and happiness.

.

.

"I love you, onee-chan."
