"Yuki, why are you so useless?" Akito's words hung in the air for a moment, then charged toward Yuki, looking for some kind of response.
"I don't know." was Yuki's only answer. He didn't know why he was useless, he didn't know why he was just so weak. Why he clammed up at the thought of voicing his opinions or feelings to anybody. Why he didn't even resist Akito's violence anymore, almost as if he was willing to die, and the scariest part was, he thought he might be.
Yuki had long ago accepted the thought of death, even being only 6 right now, he had acknowledged the thought of dying when he was 4. When his mother first brought him before Akito. It wasn't hard for him to accept death. It could happen any time with Akito. He knew he had to accept it, but death, was very hard for some people to accept, and death at somebody else's hands, was an even harder concept. So much so that people killed themselves before they would let that happen. Yuki knew though, he knew that he would die one day, either at himself or Akito's hands, and maybe even someone else's. But looking back on how sick that acceptence once, and how weak he was to accept it, made him feel like he had almost been born to be destroyed, and that, was the hardest concept of all to accept, and somehow, he kept trying to not to.
"I don't know." He blinked as his quiet words slipped out of his mouth, too numb to even realize he had spoken. Akito growled in frustration.
"Of course someone as useless as you couldn't answer a simple question! That's why you must not resist, Yuki. You need someone like me, someone capable to make you necessary, because without me, you'd have no reason to live!"
The words struck Yuki like repetitive slaps, which he well knew the feeling of. He knew they were true. Yuki was known only for his position as the rat of the Chinese Zodiac. His possesion was respected and glorious, and he...wasn't. People would not even try to remember the name of just one more Sohma child. But they would take care to remember: Yuki Sohma, the prostegious Zodiac member closest to God. His mother had landed her jobs and position based on Yuki's possesion. Everyone seemed to be getting blessed by the rat posession but him.
"You're...right, Akito. I am sorry for ever disobeying you. Please help me. I'm useless." And he might as well have smashed his soul with a hammer, because Akito was only adding salt to the wound.
