in a far off eastern wonderland
a thick red mist had filled the air, radiating from a usually clear misted lake
no longer able to ignore the mist that threatened to engulf them
the humans of the village set out to the find the one who might save them
a first maiden had already been dispatched, but there was no word of her, and time wore thin
the humans had no choice but to seek out a plan-B
a youth was dispatched to the Forest of Magic to find the plan-B heroine.

After an afternoon of travel, the messenger spotted smoke. The source of the smoke was a large Victorian house in the middle of a clearing. Tentatively, he approached the door and banged the knocker. A crashing from inside caused the messenger to jump back as a young girl opened the door.
"Whazat, visitors?" said the fair maiden, rubbing ash from her eyes with one hand. She was garbed in a black dress with white trim, and an large pointed hat. Her long blond hair was tied with ribbons in the front, and her eyes were an unnatural golden hue.
Moments passed in silence while the youth was taken in with her beauty.

"Well? Do you make a habit of interrupting people in the middle of their very important work and then staring stupidly at them?"

Embarrassed by the girls harsh words, the messenger bowed his head and asked;

"Excuse me, mam, but are you "The Being Made of Magic and Red Dreams?"

"Nope" she replied, "I'm just an ordinary magician. But I think you found the right person, so, I assume you want me to do something about the mist?"

"Ah! Yes please, Miss Ordinary Magician Made of Magic and Red Dreams!"

"No, just call me Marisa."

"Yes, Miss Ordinary Magician Marisa."

"...Fine, that works. What about Reimu? Isn't sh...AM I A PLAN B?" Marisa's scream echoed through the forest, causing a bird youkai to flee the nest.

"Well, erm, Miss Ordinary Magician Marisa, it's just that, well... She did beat you before..."

"OH THAT'S SUCH A LOAD! SHE JUST BOMB SPAMMED THROUGH THE LAST FEW CARDS! BUT IF I HAD DONE THAT, YOU'D SAY I CHEATED!"

"Please! This isn't the time! If the mist covers us all, not even you can help!"

"OH I'LL HELP ALRIGHT! I'LL CLEAN UP THIS INCIDENT, AND THEN I'LL CLEAN REIMU'S CLOCK!"

She leap to her broom and plowed straight through a tree.

Wincing in pain, she shouted "AND THAT DIDN'T HURT!

And thus, the Scarlet Devil Incident had begun.

Well, there's the first chapter in all it's shortness. But it's the Character Select chapter, so why would you expect it to be any longer?

I personally subscribe to the rude, reckless Marisa, and the lazy yet kind Reimu, as opposed to the lazy and rude Reimu, but she won't appear in this story, well, maybe Marisa will find her beaten up by one of the bosses. Maybe Rumia, that'd be embarrassing!

It's called Extrapolation of Scarlet Devil, and for those of you who don't know, Extrapolation is a mathematical concept where new data is created by observing the pattern in the old data, and projecting it along the path. I'm taking what happened in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, and fleshing it out, as most of the conversations consist of; "Wow, books, I'm going to steal them." "Don't steal the books." "I'm gonna." "I'm going to eat you. I have bad eye sight." "You need iron." "You mean vitamin A. Do you have any vitamin A." "I have lots of things. I'm tasty." then the two girls beat each other senseless with magic. So, yeah. The game stands room for fleshing out.

Shame Alice isn't in this game. I personally pair MaLice. And ReiChiru .
Oh well, if I want to write a romance, maybe I'll write Perfect Cherry Extrapolation.
Imperishable Extrapolation? Extrapolation Night?
Extrapolation of Flower View?
Mountain of Extrapolation? Extrapolation of Faith?
Subterranean Extrapolation?
Unidentified Extrapolatory Object? Unidentified Fantastic Extrapolation?
I think I will extrapolate all the games eventually.

Don't think I'm going to include EX in this, as I can't beat EX.
