"Not Even Close"
Although there were many similarities between Tracy and his mother-she was practically a spitting image of her-there was one thing he knew right away that made her different from his mom.
Her spirit.
Unlike his mom, Tracy cared more about saving her own skin than even thinking of helping others. Probably the first thought in her head when she led the agents to the locker was how she was going to escape as 'Rebel' was gunned down.
Micah figured she must've had some kind of a conscience though, other wise she wouldn't have bothered trying to save him.
Truthfully, the real reason he saved her was because of the incredible likeness she had of his late mother. So he guessed he couldn't blame her for whatever her reasoning was of saving him. Whether it was out of pity or what.
He knew she didn't really care about him, but he couldn't help still caring about her. Every minute spent in her presence was like having one last moment with his mom.
Her voice was just as strong, her hair was the same shade of blonde, and her face was etched with that same concerned look his mother always wore when she worried about him.
Micah knew that deep down, there was some good in Tracy's heart. She just had to find it.
"Micah!" Tracy called to him frantically, as he darted away to escape Danko's men.
Micah came to a halt as he whipped his head around in her direction.
He hoped, no, prayed that she would beg him to let her tag along. Then they would both be safe. And maybe, in some strange way, they could cling to each other as a sort of broken, makeshift family.
But Micah's hopes for having even the slightest thing that resembled a family were dashed by Tracy's reply.
"Stay ahead of the ice." She warned him with that same concerned look his mother had.
In that moment something strange happened, he could tell just by the look in her eyes that she really was concerned for his well-being.
She did care.
Had she finally discovered the good in her cold heart?
Or had everything that he'd thought of her been wrong? Did he misjudge her character? It was hard enough to let go of her in the first place, but knowing now that she genuinely cared about him made his heart ache even more than before.
But there was nothing he could do about it now. Danko's men were already beginning to close in around them, and they couldn't both outrun them. One of them would have to stay behind and fight them off. Just like Tracy was willing to do to ensure his escape.
So, not bothering to argue, Micah nodded once in understanding and started making his out of the parking garage, not looking back.
