And it all started so well.
All those years ago, when she was still young and motivated.
She'd always wanted to become a zoo keeper, since she'd been a child. She loved animals and she loved to take care of them.
As a kid, she often went to the zoo to watch the animals. Back then she was irritated by how joy- and listless zoo keepers seemed.
If they didn't want the job, why did they learn it in the first place she was wondering. She'd never understood it.
Then she grew up, took this profession herself and was full of verve and zest. She've wanted to make the world a better place, she had thousands of ideas and the motivation to put them into action.
And eventually, that had been what broke her.
The bureaucracy, the damn bureaucracy had cost her so much. She could have done so much, she could have made a difference, she'd wanted to made a difference! But they put obstacles in her way, many obstacles, big obstacles. Whatever she tried, they didn't listen and time by time, something in her had changed.
She got bittered, indifferent to the animals she took care of and her once high motivation more and more made room for an I-don't-care attitude.
And finally, she did it.
She really did it and in that moment she've felt that she'd become just like those demotivated zoo keepers from her childhood who just did what they had to do to get their pay check at the end of the month.
A ghetto blaster had appeared in the lemur habitat, just like that. She had wondered where it came from.
But then she just shrugged.
"Whatever." she said.
With that, the last part of the old Alice died.
