Ulquiorra was internally damning the woman he had grown attached to in the cursed Hueco Mundo. Not that he regretted saving her life or assisting in defeating his once beloved Aizen, but had he known this would happen, he definitely would have given it more thought than he did. Surely the captains of the Gotei 13 were losing their minds.
To allow a former espada in the Seireitei, let alone Soul Society at all, was just ridiculous, and surely he couldn't have been the only one who thought this. Of course, Orihime thought it was the best idea she ever had. Naturally, both her friends and Ulquiorra disagreed. He would have been content living out the rest of his existence in Hueco Mundo just so Orihime could be happy, but no, she wanted him to stay with her. If she hadn't practically got on her knees and begged him, he hated how foolish she looked begging; he never would have done this. Honestly, it's just down right demeaning to a former espada, the fourth especially.
It was in that moment Ulquiorra stopped damning Orihime, and began to damn the shinigami Renji Abarai. This was also, in large part, his fault. He just had to go and get himself promoted to the damn captain position of the fifth division. Everyone seemed to be genuinely surprised he became captain, leading Ulquiorra to believe he must be an incompetent oaf. As he passed the fifth division building, Ulquiorra could have sworn he saw Renji snickering at his current predicament.
Finally, Ulquiorra arrived to his destination, and began to damn Orihime again. Even though he didn't want to be here, this shinigami was, in Ulquiorra's eyes, one of the sanest captains in the Gotei 13 because he was against letting Ulquiorra live.
Byakuya Kuchiki was in an extreme state of shock; well, at least, as only he could be. Of course, his facial expressions gave nothing away. An unranked sixth division shinigami came and informed him that his visitor had arrived. Byakuya began to think about how he got sucked into this pathetic arrangement. If it wasn't so beneath him, he would have begun to damn that stupid ryoka girl.
Wait, no scratch that. Byakuya blames Renji. Yes, it was all his former lieutenant's fault. Had he not gone and learned his damn bankai, this never would have happened. The other captains must have lost their minds. Agreeing to give the espada clemency just because he saved that human girl, and had a big hand in defeating Aizen. Byakuya suppressed a scoff. In his opinion, Aizen would have been defeated without the espada's help. Not to mention they gave it a position on the Gotei 13. It was a scandal, not to mention severely foolish.
Once the pale former espada entered the room, Byakuya reluctantly glanced up from his stack of paperwork. The second they laid eyes on each other eyes on each other, as if on cue, they both began damning that foolish human woman who thought it would be a good idea for Ulquiorra and Byakuya to work together as captain and lieutenant, since they are so much alike.
