Hey everyone. This story was brought to you by Hogwarts Northern Winter Funfair's Build an Igloo, Hogwarts Southern Winter Funfair's Big Dinner Bash, and Hogwarts Eastern Winter Funfair's Yule Log Burning on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Build an Igloo I wrote for Layer 1 prompt of the character of Abraxas Malfoy. For Big Dinner Bash I wrote for Candy Canes and the prompt was the setting of midnight. For Yule Log Burning I wrote for E10 which was the character of Kingsley Shacklebolt. I hope you all enjoy Secret Midnight Meetings.
Kingsley Shaklebolt had been just about to head home from the Ministry when he hard the raised voices from the hallway outside his office. He hadn't heard anyone return to the Ministry but then again he was well absorbed into the writing up of his paperwork to pay attention. Sitting stock still in his office he heard the voices pass by his office.
"Must be some Aurors," he told himself. "Forgot to hand in his or her paperwork."
Just as he finished saying this though one of the voices raised to higher volume. It was obvious who the voice belonged to but he hadn't been in the Ministry since before Kingsley started working. Abraxas Malfoy was in at the moment in the hallway in a heated argument with someone.
"Lucius," the older man yelled at his son, "you have to uphold the traditions of your pure-blood father's before you."
Creeping closer to the door to Kingsley was just in time to hear Lucius say, "Father, keep your voice down. You don't want anyone to..."
"To what, my boy? Overhear a father arguing with his son?" The elder Malfoy began to tut. "Your mother and I thought you were making the right choice when you joined up with this Lord Vold..."
"Father!" Lucius's voice was more warning than anything else. "You don't want to ruin my standing in the Ministry's out look."
"You care what these people think?"
"It is easier to spy for our Dark Lord this way. That is why he chose me to be one of his inner circle. So that I could get him information from inside the Ministry. We can't ruin that. Now can we?"
"I guess you're right, son."
"Now I have a meeting to get to. If you don't mind."
The two men's voice continued to chat as though they hadn't been talking about The Dark Lord in the very hallway of the Ministry of Magic. Kingsley held his breathe as he listened to their retreating footsteps. After they had been gone for a few minutes he cracked open the door to make sure that no one else was here.
Turning the light off in his office he noted the time on the clock on the wall over his desk. It was midnight and he was just now making his way home from work. Maybe tomorrow he'd tell his superiors about the conversations the Malfoy's had had last night.
I hope you all enjoyed Secret Midnight Meetings.
