The Pen is Mightier Than the Sword
"'The pen is mightier than the sword.' It's an age old expression, with a terrific meaning. Could anyone tell me what that meaning is?" Mr. Cook peered around, and then said in surprise, "Percy Jackson?"
Percy set his hand back atop his desk. "I have no clue what the heck it's supposed to mean. But, what if you had a pen that could turn into a sword? Would it be super mighty, or kind of mighty, or not mighty at all? Or, when it's in pen form would it be mighty, and in sword form not mighty? Or in pen form it would be kind of mighty, and in sword form kind of mighty? Or just in either form would it be not mighty? Or-"
"Mr. Jackson! What are you talking about?"
"Well," he repeated, "I have no clue what the heck it's supposed to mean. But, what if you had a pen that could turn into a sword? Would it be super mighty, or kind of mighty-"
"That's enough, Mr. Jackson."
"Or not mighty at all?"
Mr. Cook sighed. "I don't know. Because there's no such thing."
Percy leaned back, a twinkle in his sea green eyes. "Whatever you say, Mr. Cook. Whatever you say."
