Chapter 1: Introduction
This idea had been in my head for a while, and I decided to type it out. It will consist of the regular characters and two of my own OCs.
Disclaimer: I own my OCs only, and eventhough it would be awesome I unfourtunately do not own My Hero Academia or its characters.
The graffiti artist struck again. For the past year, someone had been spray painting murals around the city. Every day, the graffiti artist hit a new building and painted a new picture. Some paintings were so entrancing, many onlookers wanted to leave them up. Others caused those who saw them to scream, run away, vomit, or even faint. Eventually, nearly every single well-known building was hit by the one most people called 'Sporadic'.
The name was chosen after the fifth time they struck. The first few murals painted by Sporadic appeared in random places, on random buildings, each with a random theme. The nickname stuck and spread as news of the paintings got around to the rest of the nation. As the days past, the paintings became larger and more intricate then anyone could ever imagine. Most of murals were so life like, some believed that it was just a mirage, or a picture projected onto a building.
This morning, everyone woke up to the Endeavor Hero Agency coated in paint. The illustration was an underwater kingdom with mythical creatures swarming the walls. As police and heroes arrived at the scene, so did civilians. Many were angry at the fact that someone defaced the agency of the number two hero, others loved the painting and did not want it to be removed. Endeavor, however, was enraged that a criminal had vandalized his place of work, and that the one responsible was still an enigma.
Yet, after one year of being publicly known as Sporadic, there were no leads on whoever they were. Nothing was left behind when a building was hit. No finger prints could be dusted for, no clothing was ever forgotten, no one had ever seen the person's face, even security cameras in the vicinity of the crime scenes were deactivated and had no footage. The only evidence anyone could go off of was that they had been seen by a child who claimed they wore a navy-blue sweater with a purple and green bandana tied around the arm.
Unfortunately, after hours of checking traffic cams, heroes and police alike came up empty. No one matched the limited description they had to work off. The only good news they got, was that Sporadic was becoming more bold. Paintings no longer just showed up in the mornings. Recently, they have began being spotted appearing out of nowhere in the middle of the day, even when people said that nothing was there seconds before the painting was reported.
As cleaners began to arrive to clean his building, Endeavor was trying to think of ways they could catch this criminal. There was a thought towards the idea that the paintings could be appearing in a pattern. However, just like the names suggest, there was no pattern to the locations or the themes. The only thing anyone could do at this point was wait until more evidence turned up.
Izuku Midoriya, a plain looking junior high student, was currently on his way to school after hearing about the latest strike from Sporadic. While the young man had admired the vandal for his skills in both painting and evasion, he still believed that they needed to be stopped. For the past year he had studied Sporadic and all the places that have been spray painted. They certainly seemed random, but Midoria still tried to find a pattern despite this. He mumbled while walking into his school building and did not notice everyone around him staring.
"Hey, Deku!"
The mumbling finally stopped as he turned around and saw the school's bully approaching him, "O-oh, Kacchan, I didn't see you there-" Midoriya stumbled on his words as an average height, spiky blond haired boy scoffed at him.
"What the hell are you going on about this time you damn quirkless loser?!" He had an evil grin spread across his mouth, bearing the teeth of a shark. "If it's about the stupid spray painter, just give it up. You'll never find out anything about them. You're useless when it comes to anything but taking up space." With those comments, Bakugo had managed to drag Midoriya's feelings through the dirt for several seconds.
Once the bully had passed him laughing, Izuku tried not to let anything that was said get to him. He walked to class silently, sat down and waited for class to start as he ignored the other students around him. All of the students at the school had a quirk, a special, superhuman ability an individual can possess. About 80% of the world had quirks, and Midoriya just so happened to be in the measly 20% known as quirkless. The quirkless were those without quirks, just as the title suggests.
Things went on normally until Masuda Taji entered the classroom. Almost everyone stopped talking and stared at him, yet it seemed he never noticed. This kid was viewed as strange even in the superhuman society. He always had a bright smile plastered on his face and was kind to everyone, this included those who were nothing but rude to him. Despite being kind, he never went out of his way to talk to anyone. Everyday, he would sit alone, eat alone, and work alone. The teachers had tried to get him to work with others, but he just would not do so. No one even knew what his quirk was, if he had one.
Aside from his personality, he also looked and acted weird. No matter the month he always wore a scarf, a beanie, and while ignoring all the orders not to do so, he was always wearing slippers at all times. When the beanie was off his head, everyone could see his bright galaxy like eye and spiky space themed hair. During class, the kid never paid any attention to what was going on. Usually, he would be making rock stacks or houses of cards. Sometimes he would doodle or sometimes he would just sleep. Taji almost never did the homework and was constantly berated by others for his poor grades.
Every once in a while, Midoriya would see him out side of school. Strangely enough, he never saw Taji anywhere other than the park or the library. At the park he would be under a tree talking to someone who had albinism and looked blind, while at the library he was continuously surrounded by piles of books. Periodically, he would play games of chess and shogi with absolutely no one.
Midoriya's thoughts were dragged back to the present once the teacher entered the room. Today, they were supposed to be talking about careers and their futures. The teacher said passing out career forms would be pointless seeing as how all of them wanted to become heroes. Everyone started cheering and they got yelled at for using their quirks in class. Bakugo on the other hand sounded highly arrogant as he said that he was better than everyone else. The teacher ended up pointing out that he was applying to UA High, the most prestigious high school a person could go to on their road to being heroes.
The blond bully got immensely agitated when he heard that both Midoriya and Taji were also applying for UA High. He yelled at Midoriya while saying not to apply or else. He went to tell Taji the same thing but failed to do so when Bakugo saw that his classmate was sleeping again. The fact that anyone could sleep through the ruckus the class made must have been the work of the gods. At the end of the day, as everyone was leaving, Taji finally woke up just in time to see Izuku getting pushed around by Bakugo. He decided to leave before Bakugo could do anything to him but felt bad for leaving Midoriya in that situation alone. Taji ended up heading straight to the library so he could bury himself in books once more before he went to his brother's house.
Midoriya did the complete opposite and opted to walk around the city after retrieving his destroyed notebook. Childhood memories from his past flooded his brain while he was walking. His dreams of becoming a hero were gone when the doctor told him he was quirkless. Izuku's mom had lost hope and he was made fun of constantly by his peers. However, none of that was going to stand in his way as he followed his dreams.
Midoriya laughed loudly like his idol All Might while he walked through a tunnel. Sludge began to seep up from the sewers as the kid was walking along. The grinning liquid figure chortled when he looked at the boy and attacked him, "Don't worry, I'm just hijacking your body. It'll be all over in a few seconds." Midoriya struggled for a short while, even tried to pull the sludge off him, but it would not work. He was being suffocated.
Suddenly, a large blast of wind engulfed Izuku and the attacker, forcing the sludge to remove itself from it's capture. The villain turned to face the newcomer as the boy was on the floor gasping for air. Before the newcomer could be identified, the sludge was blasted again then confined in a condensed ball of quickly moving currents of wind, and Midoriya saw a shadow before blacking out.
Taji knocked on the door for what felt like the hundredth time, and again, no one answered. Confusion befell his thoughts and he walked around to the side gate. Despite the fence being roughly eight feet tall, Taji hoped the gate with ease. He went around to the backyard, stopped under the only unlocked opening that's ever left that way. He jumped up to the far left, third floor window, and went into the house.
The inside of the mansion was mostly empty, contained mostly basic necessities, but overall clean. Rooms only had a bathroom and a bed each. Taji went down to the first floor and checked the living room for someone that should be there but was no where to be found. So, despite continuing the search, he decided to raid the kitchen and look for food. After doing such, Taji went to sit on the couch with his food. Five minutes of waiting with his snack caused the child to become bored and fall asleep in the empty house.
