-Hey-
So here's a story of which is based on the show "Steven Universe" by Rebecca Sugar. It's a pretty radical show, check it out, it has it's moments.
The story however takes place a couple years in the future, so the characters are a lil' older than they would be in the show (They're teens). And I would like to make this a coming of age story, as the description read.
Doing this for fun, hopefully you'll find this story interesting, I don't write all too often anyhow.
That being said, enjoy the prologue, and tell me what you thought (if you read lol).
The reflective ocean was a light blue with an orange tint, along with everything else. It was a late evening and everything was quiet besides the calm waves of the ocean surface. It was nice. Stores were still open, and birds still squawking. Beside the edge of the beach was the familiar house that everyone knew. Steven Universes house, along his group the Gems. They had fought alongside one another many times, adventures you couldn't make up, and stories that were to be with them for a while.
It has been a fair amount of time for the people in this beach-like city. Steven, now has gained the new, grand ability of shaving. He usually keeps whatever stubble he may have, and shaves once in a great while. He still remains as the curious, goofy lad he had always been, though is now hitting a growth-spurt. He is now 16. His birthday is in 2 months.
Thing's remain the same, though he had fought man memorable battles between the two colonies, of which is still going. As of now, however he has a much more important matter...
Little, giant paces can be heard walking around the beach house. An orange glow shining in the living room through the holes of the curtains. A fridge door being opened, and giggling from two teens.
One of them take out whip cream, and other materials needed to make what seemed to be a type of desert. "They're gonna love this!" One of them say.
He mentioned how much they liked it a while back, he looks so happy... She thought.
The other teen sat down the supplies on the table in the kitchen. "Yeah, I'm sure they'll be really happy to see this again!" An excited agreement from the other. "Do you mind getting the rest of the ingredients from the cupboards Con?"
The other teen look's, then stands straight, and salutes along with a nod followed by a strong "Hmhm!" The other teen sets out a plate, and turns the stove on.
"Don't burn the house down this time, yeah?" The other teen says with the rest of the supplies in her hands. "Come on now, that time was an accident!" The giant said defensively. "I didn't know how to handle the stove then!" They smiled.
Always a silly excuse. She shook her head, and smiled.
"Well you've been reading that cook-book, haven't you?" Replied the hands-filled teen.
"Yeah, yeah of course!" Replied the dial-turning giant.
One of the teens set the rest of the supplies with the rest, and doing so, they gaze at the giant handling the stove. She found it difficult to keep in the laughter from watching so called giant work the stove. She then said; "Sure looks like ya did, expert." She smiled.
"Okay, maybe not all of the book but I read a decent amount." Still struggling with the dial.
The other teen walked towards the stove; "Here, let me try" She came over and gently patted the giants hand away from the stove and turned the dial at a medium temperature. She also had to fix all the dials as they were all on.
She turned all the dials off, minus the one. "There, y'know Steven, you don't have to turn on all the dials if we're using only one pan."
Steven twirled his thumbs and looked at his friend; "Y-yeah, sorry Connie, I just..." He looked down.
...
His eyes still looking down at the floor, Connie said; "It's alright, ya big dummy." A playful hit to Stevens shoulder.
Ow.
Faint sprinkling could be heard outside the house. Though, after putting together the supplies together, making the batter, and after cooking the meal, they topped it in whip cream, and put strawberries around it, along with one at the top as if it were a cherry.
Turned out great. Connie felt.
After gazing upon the dish the two teens look at one another and smile. Steven then makes a funny face, sticking out his tongue, getting a tiny laugh out of Connie.
Suddenly, they start hearing drops of water hitting the roof of the house. Both had liked the calmness that came with the rainy weather.
"Rain sounds nice." Steven said looking at Connie.
She looked back at Steven, smiled and replied; "Yeah, it does."
After setting the plate on the counter, the two decided to sit on the couch to watch a movie. Steven was up by his room getting his tiny TV. He bubbled it and sent it down near Connie, now floating by her.
Such a vibrant shade of pink.
Steven then yelled "So what movie do you want to watch?"
Connie was quiet, then said; "Something interesting!"
"That could be literally any movie up here!" Replied Steven.
Trying to contain her small laugh, she said; "I don't mind! Just something you would like!"
Steven turned to the VSR movies and looked around; "Hmm...Something I would like..." After a short while, Steven climbed down hos short ladder and showed Connie the movie.
I've never seen that one before..? Connie thought.
"It's a really good movie about this robot, and this other robot! Oh! But the other robot isn't like the other robot!" Steven explained. "One of the robots is shaped like a box and he has this lil' critter friend and h-" He was interrupted by a finger being pressed against his lips.
"Steven, don't spoil the movie." Connie said. "Let's just watch it, huh?" She smiled.
"O-okay." Steven, blushing, walked over to set up his TV on a coffee stand, and then put the movie in. He walked back over to the couch and jumped on it, surprising Connie, making her laugh, along with Steven, of which was in a not so comfortable position.
He's so goofy.
With the lights turned off, blanket set, the two began watching the movie. Steven had seen it about four times, this was the fifth. It was one of his favorites...
Halfway through the movie, Steven heard a quiet snore laying on his side. He looked over, and saw Connie leaning on his shoulder, snoozing...
He had seen that he had more blanket on his side, and so pulled it up and covered Connie up with more blanket. He looked at her and smiled. He then had leaned over too, and closed his eyes, movie still playing, the blue light facing them, rain still being heard hitting the roof in a calm-like manner. They drifted to sleep, smiles both on they're faces.
"Goodnight."
