When You Lose Something You Can't Replace, When You Love Someone But It Goes To Waste, Could It Be Worse?

(Fix You- Coldplay)

Bill wasn't entirely sure how it had happened.

In his eyes, Luna had always been an honorary Weasley. He could still recall the precocious and precious little child she had been. However, after her mothers passing, he'd never really seen her again. At least, not until the night of Dumbledore's death.

It was amazing to him... to see how little Luna had grown up, and see that she had become a beautiful young woman.

He'd never predict, even then, that she would come to mean so much to him. That after Fred's passing, she would become indispensable to him, that he would need her and she would be a comfort to him that not even his wife could compare to.

And now here he was, and she stood in the circle of his arms in a beautiful white gown and Bill couldn't help feeling his heart shattering to pieces.

"You look beautiful, Luna," he breathed quietly as he looked down into her bright blue eyes, shining up at him like stars.

Luna smiled. "Thank you, Bill," she responded as she swayed in his arms, more to her own music than to the beat of the music that was actually playing. She seemed to be dancing a slow dance, but Bill couldn't really bring himself to care, if it meant he could hold her closely in his arms. "You look very handsome yourself, but then you've always been handsome," she said matter-of-factly in her sing-song voice.

Bill smiled self-deprecatingly. "Yeah, and these scars make me all the more rugged, don't they?"

Luna tilted her head to the side as she looked up at him, her hair which was wild and looked like streams of silver, falling over her bare shoulder. A slender hand reached out, and gently traced some of the white scars that marred his face. "You're still lovely," Luna stated, quite seriously, watching her fingers as they ghosted lightly over his skin while Bill felt his heart pounding hard in his chest as he watched her breathlessly.

"Rolf is very lucky to have you," Bill stated a moment later, trying not to look so devastated as he felt as he said it. Thinking about what a beautiful bride Luna made, and how much of a wonderful wife he knew she'd turn out to be.

It hurt, that it couldn't be him and it was difficult to pretend to be happy for her. But he had to, for her. To keep that beaming smile on her face.
