Hey guys I know I kinda disappeared for a while there, but I've been testing and I had major writers block, and then I got the idea for this. Please review for this after you read it and thanks to birdgirl for helping me with the name of the story.
My whole life changed when I was ten. I woke up to the sound of my pothead mother yelling at my alcoholic father to get a job so she can pay for more of her drugs. I heard a glass breaking and I knew that my father threw an empty beer bottle at the wall in anger. I got up and put on my deep blue dress with roses on it and put on my sandals since it was a nice day. I climbed out my window and down the fire escape. I knew that if I walked out the front door, my parents would yell at me like always. I walked to school, looking up at the sky, wishing like I did everyday that I could spreads wings and fly to a happier place. I was watching the clouds as I walked when a white van pulled up in front of me. I looked at the van, and a man with glasses and wearing a white lab coat grabbed me by the waist and pulled me into the van. They shut the door and started driving. "Soon, you will be able to feel the clouds." I was then sent into darkness.
I woke up to the feeling of needles in my back. I screamed because suddenly it felt as though flames were spreading through my back. "Contain her, she'll hurt herself." I kicked and punched and tried to get free, but was soon put back into the darkness again, but this time I was only on the edge of it. I felt myself being picked up gently and being put on a solid ground. I heard a door closing and someone walking away. After 5 minutes, I was able to open my eyes and looked around. I was in a warehouse of some kind and in a cage. "Where am I?" I asked, not wanting to get up just yet. "You're in the School as we call it." I heard a girl's voice call out. I looked over to left and saw another girl in a cage about 5 feet away from me. "I need to get home, if I don't my mom and dad will hurt me. I need to-" I was trying to sit up when I said the last sentence, but as I sat up, pain ripped through my back making me fall to the ground crying out in pain. "Hey, what's wrong?" I heard a gentle voice ask next to me. I looked to my direct right and saw a cage not a foot away from me holding a boy about my age with pale blonde hair and pale skin, but what I noticed most about him was his striking sea blue eyes. "My back feels like flame is spreading through it." The boy reached his hand through the bars of his cage and held my hand. "I'm Iggy and it'll be okay. I'll be here by you through it all. What's your name?" I looked into his blue eyes. "I don't have a name. My parents were drug addicts, and whenever they talked to me, they called me kid or names that I can't say." The others looked surprised, but Iggy spoke up first. "What would you like for a name then?" I thought about it for a moment, and then smiling I said, "Cloud. I would like to be Cloud." He smiled and was about to say something but more scientists came in and took Iggy. "I'll be here when you get back." Iggy's hand was pulled from mine and he nodded, tears in his eyes. I had tears in my eyes too, because even though I hadn't said very much, we were both scared that he might not coming back.
