A/N: So, I've been rather deeply immersed in Harry Potter fanfciton lately, and I've come to realize that Andromeda Tonks is my favorite character, ever. This epiphany came after reading DeepDownSlytherin's epic A Keen Observer. I've been meaning to do it for ages, and now that I've finished it, I find myself filled with self-musings and wonders of the world and life. During one of these broods, this came out, and I thought it fit a young Andromeda nicely. Hopefully, you do too.

I Want to Live

When I grow up,

I want to see flowers.

I want to see lilies and orchids,

petunias and daisies,

anemones and all the flowers you could imagine.

Maybe, sometimes, roses, too.

But not those from the store.

I want to see real, luscious roses.

I want to see flowers.

When I grow up,

I want to see paintings.

I want to see faces and portraits,

tranquil landscapes and breath-taking sceneries,

all smeared together with faint hues,

faint hues and all the colors of the rainbow.

Vibrant, bold, intimate.

All the colors of the rainbow.

When I grow up,

I want to bury my face in novels,

books, poems, and heavy tomes.

I want to drift away to another world,

and be left alone to ponder,

to ponder and think and wonder.

I want to savor the words

of writers before me,

and indulge in their secrets.

I want to read.

When I grow up,

I want to lay in a grassy field,

and relish the cool breeze against my tongue.

I want to gaze up at the cloud-marred sky,

and point in wonder at stars in the night.

I want to lay under those blankets,

of dainty blue and velvet black,

and be.

I want to bask in the sun.

I want to roll in the dawn,

feel the warmth of the day creeping on me,

and smile to myself.

I want to shiver in the twilight,

and think of the day to come.

I want to lay in grassy fields.

When I grow up,

I want to enjoy a romance.

I want true, heartfelt understanding,

unwavering passion and devotion,

and a soul that is kindred to mine.

I want us to be the same,

I want us to know and accept,

to be kind and gentle.

I want to love.

When I grow up,

I want to see flowers.

I want to see paintings.

I want to lose myself in books,

and tune out the world in grassy fields.

I want the sun on my back,

and love in my heart.

When I grow up,

I want to live.
