As Harry and Ron walked down the corridor, Ron begged Harry not to make him go wish Luna a happy birthday with him.
"I really don't think this is a good idea, Harry," Ron said.
"Come on, Ron. Luna is our friend," Harry said, pulling Ron along with him.
"No, Luna is your friend. I've never even actually talked to her," Ron lied, in an effort to get out of going with Harry.
"You know that's not true. She told you happy birthday last year. Don't you think you should do the same for her?" Asked Harry.
"But Harry...she scares me. She's just so weird. And don't get mad at me or anything. Hermione doesn't like her either," Ron argued.
"Hermione doesn't have a problem with her. Infact, Hermione has already talked to Luna today," said Harry.
"And besides, she's not a spider. She's not going to hurt you," Said Harry, smirking.
"Fine. But you're doing all the talking,"Ron grumbled.
Together, they walked over to the table Luna was sitting at in the Grand Hall.
"Happy birthday, Luna," Harry said, while Ron just nodded his head.
"Oh, thanks Harry. Your the third person to tell me that. It's fun. Almost like having friends," she said, staring dreamily into space.
"Yeah," Harry said akwardly. "Well, we have to go. Happy birthday again," Harry said. Then they turned and walked off.
"She's so weird. I mean, why would you feel happy because three people actually talked to you?" Ron asked, almost to himself.
In responce, Harry just shrugged his shoulders.
"Seriously. That's completely mental," Ron continued.
"Ron, you don't know her. Yes, maybe she is a little off, but give her a chance. You've never even talked to her. You said it yourself,"Harry reminded him.
"Yeah, whatever,"Ron replied, letting the subject drop. Harry and Ron walked back to the common room, talking about the up-coming quidditch game.
Ron walked quickly down the hall way, knowing that Professor McGonnagall was going to be very angry that he was late for class. As, he was walking, he bumped into Luna, making him drop his books.
"Oh, i'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention," Luna said in the dazed kind of voice she always talked in.
"Yeah, whatever. I have to get to class," Ron replied, picking up his books.
Luna didn't seem to be upset by Ron's rudeness.
"Here, let me help you," She suggested. She then got the rest of Ron's books and put them in his arms.
"Uh, thanks," Ron said, not knowing what to say.
"Your welcome. You might want to get to class now," She told him.
"How did you know i was late for class?" He asked, puzzled.
"I just do. Go ahead," She smiled at him.
Ron turned and headed to class without saying another word, thinking maybe Luna wasn't so bad after all.
