A gentle hand brushed over a weathered stone. It was cold and rough even to her touch, her hands calloused from years of gun slinging no matter how much lotion she used. "Sorry its been so long. I could say I've been too busy, but you both always saw through my bullshit."

The dead leaves cluttered at the base of the stone were cleared away and the visitor watched as they caught and fluttered in the gentle breeze. The withered flowers were replaced with a fresh bouquet.

The visitor stood and brushed away the grass that clung to her knees and lit a fresh cigarette, the smoke tendrils swept away after each exhale. Her retreating steps faltered however as a flash of red a short distance away caught her eye. She wasn't sure what possessed her to approach. What was the saying her mother had been so fond of? Oh yeah. 'Curiosity killed the cat' or something ridiculous like that.

This marker was newer than the others and the grass in front of it was bright in comparison to the surrounding lawn- yet she had never noticed it before. At its base lay a beautiful bouquet of roses and she felt a twinge of sympathy for the unknown mourner. Her heart came to a complete stop however when she got close.

Etched in bold letters upon the stone was the simple inscription:

Loved And Remembered

Julia Helen Voet
April 2046-March 2074

Author's Note: This is actually a two part fic but I kind of like it as a stand alone piece. If it's confusing to readers let me know.

Also, I have no idea what Julia's real middle and last names are, how old she is, or exactly when she died. I just made something up. Pronounced "Voh-eht".
