Prologue

There were many controversies concerning Albus Dumbledore over the course of his lifetime.

Many of these were over the people he chose to befriend. People whom the rest of society considered "dangerous". People who suffered much prejudice from the Wizard world. Yet he was not be deterred. These people, whom the rest of the Wizard world disregarded, were some of his most trusted allies.

An example of this is Remus Lupin.

He had admitted the young werewolf as a student when any other headmaster would've refused. He had made special arrangements for the young boy that would allow him to stay even during the full moon. He had planted the "Whomping Willow" upon his arrival to the school, a tree which would serve as a secret entrance to what would be known as the "Shrieking Shack"; a place where he could freely transform into a werewolf without endangering others. Dumbledore was also lenient when it came to punishing Lupin and his group of friends-the "Mauraders"-James, Sirius and Peter. He even turned a blind eye to the fact that they were actually underage and unregistered Animagi, pretending that he knew nothing of it and allowing them to roam about the school grounds and Hogsmeade during the night. He was recruited by Dumbledore, along with the rest of the Marauders, to be apart of the Order of Phoenix. He fought alongside many other wizards and witches in the War against Voldemort. And during his adult years, when he had trouble finding work due to his lycanthropy, Dumbledore hired him to teach DADA; his first real paying job since graduating school.

Another such example was his admitting and hiring of "half-breeds" who often faced prejudice from the Wizarding community.

One such half-breed was Rubeus Hagrid, a half giant, was admitted to Hogwarts as a student. And even upon expulsion due to a series of attacks on muggleborns students during his third year, Dumbledore-Transfiguration Professor at the time-convinced then Headmaster Dippet to let him stay on the grounds, acting as a gamekeeper (or gamekeeper assistant back then). Hagrid, was eventually proven not to be guilty (the real culprit was Tom Riddle, now known as Lord Voldemort), though at the time almost everyone believed him to be. Hagrid faced much discrimination due to his heritage. Most notable is Dolores Umbridge, who during the school year of 1995-1996, tried numerous times to fire him due to his status as a half-breed. Dumbledore managed to stop her, though when he eventually driven out and Umbridge made Headmaster, she ended up firing Hagrid from his post as Care of Magical Creatures Professor. When he once more regained his role as Headmaster he immediately rehired Hagrid.

He displayed great trust fro both of them--and many others. He gave a chance to the people whom most others wouldn't bother with.

So it really shouldn't have been to anyone's surprise when they found out he once again admitted a "special" student to Hogwarts during the year 1992.

She was a "half-breed" as the Wizarding world so crudely put it.

Her father was a wizard, while her mother was a Fay.

Her name was Luna Lovegood.
