Token's POV
(Reading over letter).
Dear Clyde
I know you have noticed me avoiding you. You haven't done anything wrong, it's me. I just can't take it anymore. I have kept it as a secret for years now. I've almost told you in the past, but I was too scared of you rejecting me and it ruining our friendship.
When you talk about girls I always wish that you would be talking about me, but I know that if you were it would just be a joke.
The only reason I'm writing this is because I don't want you to think that you're the reason I'm avoiding you. I've seen the hurt in your eyes when you've tried talking to me and I walk away. One of the hardest thing in my life was walking away and forcing myself not to turn back, to comfort you. You are perfect and have never done anything to make me want to avoid you. Anyone would be lucky to be able to call you theirs, and it be true. If you haven't realized it yet, I'm saying that I love you.
I've told you that I love someone before, but I didn't say that it's you. You're beautiful in every way. But that's not why I love you. I'm not sure you know. That the reason I love you is you, being you, just you. Also, everything we've been through.
I have known since the day after your mom's funeral when you came to my house crying. We sat on my couch eating chocolate ice cream and talked about anything that ever made you happy. I had seen the real you that I haven't seen you show anyone else. I get a fuzzy feeling in my stomach when I'm around, ever since that day. I didn't know what it was then, but I do now. When I realized what it was was the day that I knew for sure that I love you.
I know that you don't love me back, but you deserve to know how I feel and why I'm avoiding you.
Love,
Token
It's good enough. I take a deep breath before walking over to his desk and putting the letter on it.
"Please don't read it until you get home."
"Okay," he says in his beautiful voice.
~Hour after school ends~
I hear a knock on the door and try to ignore it but whoever it is won't leave, so I get up to go see who it is. When I open it I immediately am wrapped in two strong arms. Then, I hear the words, "I love you, too" whispered. When he (Clyde) finally lets me go, I see he has a huge smile on his face and his eyes are practically shining.
"Really?," I ask in disbelief. He simply nods. "Let's go up to my room," I say and he follows me.
"I thought you had found out and didn't want to be my friend anymore. I never thought that you would love me back," he says when we get to my room.
"I would not want to be your friend...since you love me back, will you go out with me."
"Of course," he says in an extremely happy voice. At the end of the day we had talked about almost everything, he decided to spend the night, and I feel asleep with him in my arms.
