Fiora sat with a huff, disrupting the serenity of the garden. The cheery birdsong, clear sky, and otherwise picturesque day only served to further incense her.
That spritely tune certainly did not help.
"Are you always so lively, Maven?" Fiora asked, "Are you immune to the exasperation of everyday life?"
Sona's face remained annoyingly placid as she gazed at Fiora. The wind moved her hair and dress in time with her melody, which changed from tranquil to questioning.
Fiora snorted, snatching her sword and attacking the already spotless blade with her cleaning cloth. "If so, I envy you. As for me, I could do with fewer such interactions."
"Have you seen those ignorant philistines?" Fiora continued, gesturing violently. "Apparently I was wrong to assume the Institute of War had any sort standard when accepting champions."
She shook her head, lip curled in disgust. "Just today, I happened by the cafeteria, and saw that bearded barbarian from Freljord holding a chicken leg in his bare hand. In his hand! Can you believe that?"
Sona had casually begun to drift away, but stopped dead when Fiora pinned her with her gaze. Her fingers moved, plucking a few short, high notes.
Fiora's eyebrows furrowed. After a moment, she nodded. "A fair point. I cannot blame them for their ignorance. Not everyone comes from as civilized a background as I."
Sona let out a sigh of relief, her fingers flowing down the scale.
"If they do not know the proper way of eating, I should inform them. I will go do so now."
She stood, sheathing her blade in one fluid motion. Once again turning to Sona, Fiora examined her appraisingly.
"I'm glad you agree. It has been a pleasure speaking to such an enlightened individual."
Sona maintained her pianissimo until Fiora was out of sight. Then, rolling her eyes, and plucking a quick series of notes that had a distinct similarity to the pitch and rhythm of a complaining Demacian noble, she resumed her original tune.
