"You'll be hard pressed to keep me away."
You couldn't help but smile at the sincerity in Death's voice while a small blush bloomed vibrantly across your face.
"I'm so glad, Death," your wrap your arms around his thin waist and hug him closer, burying your burning face into him once more, "..I'm just so glad…"
Death continued to look down at the top of your head, his gaze softened at the mere fact that you would miss him almost as much as he missed you, and he continued to pat your back. In the back of his mind the thought of keeping you forever as his with just a few words lingered. He thought about telling you many times over these last few weeks, but never did he have the courage. I'll tell them soon.
Death stood with you held close to him for a few moments longer before you pulled back to gaze up into his burning view. Your eyes were so soft and welcoming, he could stare into them for the rest of his life if that were a possibility. The moment broke with a few words spoken from you.
"Death, I've been needing to tell you something for a while, and it's time I told you. In the beginning, I was never terribly afraid of you, but I wasn't drawn to you either. You were so cold and harsh that all I really wanted was to stay on your good side and hope that you never found a reason to kill me..."
At this Death cringed, thinking back at how he had been so callous to you and how he unknowingly caused you to fear for your life, never knowing that you would mean so much to him now. You caught his eyes again, continuing your words:
"..and now that we've been through this whole saving humanity thing, my opinion of you has changed from you being someone to avoid to someone that I can count on, who has real feelings and who needs love just like anybody else in the world. You're strong, there's no doubt about that, but I also think that you need someone in your corner that you can count on, and.." you glanced away somewhat shyly and gathered your courage before turning back to meet Death's eyes resolutely, "...I think I want to be that someone. What I want you to understand is that I love you and I want to be there for you no matter what, and losing you like I did is something that just solidifies my certainty"
Death just stared back at you, his sunset eyes holding a mixture of surprise, and his grip tightened on you ever so slightly. Then he chuckled, with his eyes closing and his head hung low shaking from side to side in disbelief the way he'd done in the Well of Souls when he had nothing else to guide him but his own feelings. And then he just as startlingly stopped, growing strangely quiet, as he raised his head again, eyes far away as he pulled you into his cold body.
You needed to really listen in as the words that seeped from his masked mouth were the barest hint of a whisper.
"(Y/n)...I've tried for so long to get myself to tell you how I truly felt about you, and you seemed to have some sort of mind reading powers because you just took the words right out of my mouth. I suppose it's a lucky thing that I love you too else you'd have shared your heart for nothing. You mean more to me than I should really let you and I want you to know that, if it ever came to it," Death turned his gaze back down to meet yours again and said:
"...I'd move the very cities of heaven and hell if you asked me to."
