A/N: Something I thought of while on a drive to Sydney. My mind works in strange little ways. I know it's weird but what can you do. Oh well, happy reading.

The air was thick and tense as I watched, with the rest, the battle between Macavity and Munkustrap. Macavity had shown up at the ball, kidnapped Old Deuteronomy and attempted to kidnap Demeter. Then he fought Munkustrap, our tribe's protector.

I watched Macavity from where I stood. His unkept fur and his hate towards the Jellicles masking his pain. He is alone and lost. He fights, murders, steal and kidnaps to inflict pain upon others before they can inflict pain upon him.

As shortly as the fight began, it was over. Macavity had short-circuited the power, which allowed me to slip away unnoticed. I followed the scent of his blood from the wounds that had been inflicted on him. Small drops of the scarlet liquid reflecting the moonlight above.

Why did I care so much if they had hurt him? He was the Napoleon of Crime. was a Jellicle. He was supposed to be my enemy, yet I flinched when he was stricken by Munkustrap's paw and my heart shattered when Alonzo hurt him. I hated them for attacking him like that. They couldn't see Macavity the way I could. I knew he was hurting, more than just from the scratches. I wanted to take his pain from him. I wanted his burdens and all of his troubles. I never felt like that about anyone else.

I found him a while later, sitting against an alley wall. He growled warningly as I slowly approached him. He tried to get up to run but gave u a he hissed from his injuries.

"Please, don't try to move," I said quietly as I slowly kneeled by his side. "I don't want to hurt you. Let me help you."

My gentle, pleading eyes looked into his troubled ones. He was hesitant to let me help him, but reluctantly accepted. He hissed quietly as I gently cleaned his wounds. After a few moments When I finished, I looked up at him, seeing him staring at me in slight confusion.

"Why are you doing this for me," He asked, unable to understand why I was taking care of him, the one tom who I was supposed to hate because of what he did to the Jellicle tribe. I lean in placing a gentle kiss on his lips, my heart skipping a few beats when he kissed back.

I broke the kiss looking into his eyes. "Because I love you."
