If 12 year old Annabeth was told that she would one day fall in love with Percy Jackson she would call you crazy. I mean he does stupid things takes uncalculated risks and cant seem to stay out of trouble.

If 16 year old Annabeth was honest that is probably what she loved most about him his stupidity was bravery and the uncalculated risks were his blind devotion to those he loved.

but Annabeth did not know she was in love with Percy when she saw him drooling in his sleep at camp

She didn't know she loved him when he was almost killed during capture the flag

She didn't know she was in love at Medusa's or in the waterpark she didn't realize when they were up talking in the zoo truck. She didnt realize it in the underworld or even after Luke betrayed them. She didn't realize it when she met Tyson or when they were on the rainbow ponies she didn't realize it when he was a hamster or when she cried on his shoulder underwater after the Sirens. She didn't realize when she had the fleece on.

After the sea of monsters in the days that followed the return of Thalia the blushes and the giggles made it more obvious and the dance was almost a neon sign but still she didn't realize it.

It wasn't til she stood with the weight of the world on her shoulders knowing that she may die and the only person she wanted to see was Percy her seaweed brain with those sea green eyes that she could get lost in, the get black hair that no matter how hard he tried could never be tamed, the smile that rarely left his face, the scent of the sea that seemed to follow him everywhere he went and the blue food what she wouldn't give to be sitting crossed from him eating one of his Mom's blue chocolate chip cookies sipping on a blue cherry coke. He was her seaweed brain and she needed him.

So while Annabeth might not have fallen in love the first time she saw the boy with the messy black hair drooling she loved him more than anything
