A/N Update (11/08/2014): If you have been following "Something New" since it was published, I believe you all know that it is currently on hiatus now... (The wait would be over soon! ;) ) Anyways, I've recently decided to start my engine up for the long awaited Chapter 16, but I found a lot of problems to it... So... I'm REWRITING every chapter that has already been posted to fix up some details or things that I've missed, in order for Chapter 16 to fit the ORIGINAL plot of "Something New". I hope to publish better work, that's why I'm rewriting the previous chapters. Don't worry, the plot will still be there but there'll probably be some minor changes... :) Without further ado, I start by publishing a rewrite of Chapter 1 today!
ENJOY!

"Good morning, sweetie! Happy Birthday!"
"Thanks, mom."
"So what are your plans today?"
"Um…You know, hanging out with Simon at Java Jones and so on…"
"Okay, but you're going stay home today, do you understand me?" Jocelyn said sternly.
"Wha-What? It's like any other day, I've always hung out with Simon and you'd let me. Why not today, especially when it's my birthday?" Clary said while hot fizz started filing her up.
"Clary, you don't understand…"
"What don't I understand, mom? I'm already sixteen. If there's something keeping you from letting me out, there's got to be an explanation," she crossed her arms.
"It's just…" Jocelyn sighed heavily, "Okay, you're already old enough and I probably can't hide this any longer from you…"
After hearing Jocelyn's words, Clary started feeling uneasy as if something terrible would happen.
"We live in world where there's the Shadow World. A part of the world where Shadowhunters, Downworlders, and demons, among others, live in, but all concealed from mundanes-"
"What are mundanes…?"
"They're people like… the ones around us."
"And… You're saying you're not?" Clary raised her eyebrow.
"Yes and you are too."
Clary sat in a more straighten position, pretending to be interested, and said, "Go on," with a sarcastic tone.
"Clarissa Adele Fray, I'm expect you to be serious if you want me to grant your freedom later."
Jocelyn never uses Clary's full name when she is actually serious about something. Clary immediately showed no signs of sarcasm.
"Thank you. As I've said, Shadowhunters-"
The conversation lasted for a couple of hours and Clary had never spoken once.
"-and that's what this is about."
After a few seconds of silence, Clary finally let out a little laugh and said, "You really expect me to believe all that? Those are just fairy tales, legends and myths! And what does all this have to do with putting me on some house arrest?!"
"Clary, you have to understand... You and I are both Shadowhunters. When you turn sixteen-"
"This is absurd!" Clary protested.
"Listen! You've come of age to see or do things the average Shadowhunter can. Symptoms may occur, like demons lurking around every corner to come for you-"
"I'm leaving…" Clary picked up her jacket then started heading towards the door.
"Clary, wait! You don't even have-" The door had already slammed shut before Jocelyn can finish her sentence. "-any training to protect yourself…"
"So that was what she told you?"
"Yeah… How was she supposed to expect me to believe all this? It's just so…"
"Overwhelming?"
"Exactly the word that fits the whole situation…" Clary sighed. "So what do you think about it?"
"I think it's… AWESOME!" Simon exclaimed.
"Seriously, Simon…I'm not talking about Dungeons and Dragons here! Please help me… What should I do?"
"Well, I think your mom's telling the truth and maybe you should go back to see what else she has to say…" Simon suggested.
"Wow, and now you're encouraging me to listen to my mom when I'm asking you for help."
"I was just giving an honest opinion!" He protested.
"Yeah, thanks for being such a great friend…" Clary stormed out of the Java Jones making her way to who-knows-where.
Clary walked through the cold, damp streets of New York after taking a cab from Brooklyn. She wasn't familiar with the streets of New York. She had only been there once on a school field trip.
After walking around for a few hours, she had finally cooled herself down but was now officially lost. Nevertheless, she continued on walking around.
Clary looked up expecting to see the night sky but was staring at a neon sign that read 'Pandemonium '.
Pandemonium…Why does it ring a bell…
"Clary, please don't ever enter that night club-Pandemonium in New York if you ever went for a trip there. I don't want you getting involve into any business they have around there," Jocelyn warned.
"Alright, mom. I won't…"
No wonder it sounded familiar…Well what could go wrong if I went in there for a little while.*shrugs*
Loud club music was booming through the speakers. People were dancing on the dance floor while some were making out in a dark, quiet corner. Even though Clary wasn't used to these stuff, she just bobbed her head with the music, dancing to fit in with others.
When she was making her way through the crowd to the exit, she started to feel faint. Her vision started looking blurry. The people around her now only looked like swirly patterns to her. Her legs gave away underneath her, but instead but hitting the floor, she felt sturdy arms that caught her before she blacked out.
"I've finally found you…"
So what do you all think? Hope it's okay... Please read and review! Thank you! :)
