It was a beautiful night, Leslie and her friends were having a bonfire on a carefree evening, just enjoying the freedom of summer. Some of the boys had brought alcohol along with them. All around them was excited talk about what they planned to do during the summer.

Suddenly, right above them, colourful streams of lights were seen. Everyone let out a gasp of awe; it was something that wasn't normally seen. Leslie looked up and thought it looked as if people were on… broomstick?

"Do you see that?" She asked.

She stood up to get a better look, the others did as well. It did, indeed look as if people were flying on broomsticks. Colourful lights lit up the whole night sky. They also noticed something that looked like a motorbike flying through the air as well. Leslie rubbed her eyes, she hadn't had any alcohol, but she did take a drag off a joint that had been passed around.

"Is someone falling?" Someone shouted.

"Are we really drunk?" Howie, a good friend asked as he leaned on her shoulder. "I didn't think I drank so much, but it looks like people flying on broomsticks!"

"I see it too, and I haven't had anything to drink," Leslie told him.

The people on broomstick seemed to be moving fast. The group ran from the backyard and onto the streets. Luckily they weren't the only ones who noticed this. People were standing in the streets, staring up at the sky. It was hard to see what was going on with all the street lights on. Leslie was relieved that others could see what they could, it meant it was real and not just from the alcohol.

"Shit! They're gone! Where did they go?"

Many others around them were asking the same question. Kaitlyn, who hadn't been drinking, jumped into her car and pulled up next to Leslie, Howie and a few others.

"Come on, let's try to follow it," she said.

Several of them piled into the car, and she drove out of the neighbourhood. Howie was leaning out of the window, trying to see if could spot them.

"There! Go that way!" he shouted.

Kaitlyn tried to follow, but by that time they were gone.

"Well, at least we know it wasn't the alcohol," Howie said as he sat back down. "There was an old lady watching as well."

"I wonder what it was?" Leslie asked.

"You know, there has been some odd stuff happening lately," Timothy said. "Things that are hard to explain."

"Strange disappearances, lots of fog, weird people in cloaks… wonder what's happening?" Kaitlyn said. "And now people flying on broomsticks…"
