WIND BLOW, RAIN FALL
WE'VE FACED IT ALL
THERE'S STILL SOME USE IN TRYING
These walls weren't safe anymore. This hospital that used to provide shelter when there was nowhere else to go, now felt like a prison to Cristina Yang. This wasn't home to her anymore. At home, you lived. In prison, you died. Too many died in this hospital.
Cristina sat on the bench in front of her locker. Tears streaked down her face, now running silently, leftovers from her outburst in the scrub room. Many thoughts ran through her head, memories of her father, George O'Malley, and Henry Burton. Henry, her mentors husband, had just died on her table without her knowing it was him she was operating on. Owen had told her after. He had kept it all a secret.
She didn't know how she should feel. Owen had lied to her. A close friend had died, the other diagnosed with cancer. And now, Meredith and Karev were stranded out in the middle of nowhere. They were presumed to of been hit.
HANDS UP, HEADS DOWN
BABY IF YOU THINK THERE'S NO WAY OUT
SOMEWHERE THE SUN'S STILL SHINNING
She placed her head in her hands, sitting there silently as the images of past patients now flashed through her brain. Now that she thought about it, she realized how scary the world was. Everything was unpredictable. She had gotten pregnant twice for crying out loud.
"Cristina?" She turned around quickly, her eyes locking with Owen's blue ones.
DARK SKIES TELL NO LIES
LIKE YOUR STORMY EYES
"Does she know?" Cristina asked quietly, preparing herself for the answer. Teddy would be mad at her of course, and Cristina's cardio status would again be ruined
Owen walked into the room, and sat beside Cristina. His voice in a whisper, he answered. "I can't bring myself to tell her. When I look at her, I just imagine what my life would be without you. To have everything, and then it suddenly disappears within an hour. I make up all these scenarios of what could happen in this world, and when I see her, I can't tell her that all these scenarios I've made, have actually happened. I just… don't ever leave me."
IF IT'S COLD TONIGHT
I'M HERE NOW
He pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly, as if their life depended on it. She wrapped her arms around his waist, and cried into his chest. This was another tough time in their lives. There were too many to count. As they sat there, holding onto each other, the same thoughts ran through their heads, thoughts of the future. They both knew what had to happen. After a while, they got up to go home, for this day had been too long, and they needed a break. Someone else could tell Teddy. Owen could not, and would not be the one to give her the news.
When they got home though, they did not rest. They had to talk.
Outside, the thunder crashed, and the lightning streaked across the sky, illuminating the bedroom, as Cristina and Owen talked. The storm was not over yet.
IT'S STORMY OUT, SO BABY LET ME IN
I CAN HELP I KNOW I CAN
TOGETHER WE'RE NEVER GONNA FALL
IT'S STORMY NOW, BUT THE SUN'S GONNA SHINE AGAIN
EVEN THE WORST STORMS GOTTA END
WE'RE BETTER IF WE WEATHER IT OUT
TOGETHER WE'RE NEVER GONNA FALL
