Hey ya'll. In this story, you'll see Warrendra (Warren/Kendra). However, I have changed everyone ages to be a bit less... age-gapped (pedo-y). The ages are below:

Kendra- 17

Seth- 15

Warren- 19

Dale- 25

Grandpa- 91

Grandma- 89

Anyway, hope you like it!

NOTE: I do not own Fablehaven, nor any characters.

Prologue - Warren's Glade

Kendra followed him down the path. Why hadn't he allowed them to use Hugo? At breakfast, he told everyone he had a special mission, just for her. But on their way out, he asked her not to call Hugo, the golem.

Of course, she was scared. Hugo was their main defence. If he wasn't there and something bad happened..... no. She mustn't think like that. Warren knew what he was doing.

Obviously, at the back of her mind, she may have known what was coming. He was only a few years older than her, and, let's face it, he was quite handsome. But she couldn't, wouldn't let herself think like that. He was her cousin! Sure, he was only distantly related, but she shouldn't think of her cousin like that!

But, still, she hoped.

He was afraid she'd turn him down. That she'd run away and tell Grandpa. Maybe she would bypass the Grandpa stage and skip right to Seth, who, for a 15 year old, was quite a fighter. He was afraid.

When he he had told everyone he had a mission for Kendra earlier, he had been sure of it; she would admit she felt something for him, and they could stop acting like embarrassed prepubescent kids around each other. But now, as he was leading her to a spot he had chosen specifically, his special spot, he was feeling doubtful. Very doubtful. He started wondering if what he was about to do was right.

He didn't have much time to establish a case, though. They had reached the spot. He had magically protected this glade from harm earlier in his life. It still hadn't worn down, he was proud about.

He led her to the centre of the glade, to a stump, and sat her down. He was afraid.

He had just sat her down on a tree stump. Kendra suddenly felt a little less frightened. Maybe, maybe.....

"Kendra?"

"Hmm?," she answered.

"C-can I ask you a question?"

She hesitated. She had never heard Warren stutter. It scared her. She flipped her golden-brown hair in front of her face so he wouldn't see her look of fear.

"Sure."

"D-d-do you l-like me?"

She didn't answer. Couldn't. She had fainted.
