A/N: No music for this drabble, just something that popped into my head...while I was taking a shower. And it will probably make absolutly no sense to all of you. Go figure.

Disclaimer: *sighs* I don't own Bleach. Owning Urahara's hat is a far off dream.

Summary: Ichigo thinks about his hollow before going to Hueco Mundo.

He's almost sure the Hollow is just, in its own twisted way, trying to protect him.

The problem, Ichigo decides as he sits on his rooftop thinking, is that the Hollow doesn't understand emotions.

It's his theory that the Hollow has about as much understanding as a five-year old child when it comes to emotions beyond those needed in a fight. He's also rather sure that it wants to keep him from getting hurt. It simply doesn't understand that there is a better way to do it than its current method.

If it wants to take over, than it's because the Hollow thinks that he can take the wounds for Ichigo.

If it wants to kill his friends -

Well.

Ichigo thinks that the Hollow blames his friends for the rain.

It does make sense, he thinks, from a cold, twisted, scientific point of view. Remove the cause and you remove the effect.

Of course, that leaves out other factors entirely. Such as the fact that his friends (and family) are what keeps him from giving up entirely. It's a bit like nature itself – remove one single animal and the whole thing goes kaput.

He's sure his Hollow doesn't know that hurting – killing – one of his friends is a sure way to make the rain fall harder.

Well, he decides, maybe when he gets back from Hueco Mundo, he'll take the time to go there and tell it that. Maybe the Hollow will understand enough to earn a name. Maybe it'll understand that it's Ichigo's own damn fault he isn't quite brave enough to stop the rain.

Ah, well. There will be quite enough time to think about this when he gets back. Right now he has to go save Inoue.
